American Dhimmitude
NRO ^ | 30 Mar 06 | Mark Krikorian

Posted on 03/30/2006 11:36:54 AM PST by rellimpank

Hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens and their supporters have marched over the past couple of weeks demanding amnesty and opposing stricter immigration enforcement.

This isn’t really about immigration, though — it’s about power.

What we’re seeing in the streets is a naked assertion of power by outsiders against the American nation. They demand that we comply with their wishes and submit our immigration policies for their approval, and implicitly threaten violence if their demands are not met. Far from being a discussion among Americans about the best way to regulate immigration, the illegal-alien marches have been marked by the will to power: ubiquitous Mexican flags, burning and other forms of contempt for the American flag, and widespread displays of blatant racial chauvinism and irredentism.

I was shocked that the US Senate Judiciary Committee could embrace dhimmitude so quickly and completely.

Perhaps the best thing to come from NRO in years. They seem a bit blind to American patriotism unless it means military adventure.

We should be faxing this picture of the Mexican flag over the American flag to our congressmen.

If you haven't seen this already you should:

ANOTHER AMERICAN FLAG DOWN
By Michelle Malkin   ·   March 29, 2006 06:48 PM

flagdown.jpg

Scripps reports in Florida:

The Stars and Stripes have been replaced by the Mexican flag at Chasewood North, and residents of the condominium community off Central Boulevard are puzzled as to who made the switch.

"I woke up Sunday morning and looked up from my patio and then realized that the American flag wasn't on the flagpole," said Sue Miller a Chasewood North board member. "What captured my attention were the colors — at first I thought it was an Italian flag, but one of our residents said it was the Mexican flag.

"I went to the flagpole, to see if the American flag was maybe on the ground, but they took it, and they cut the rope to get the American flag down and the Mexican flag up as well."

A best estimate of when the switch took place is Saturday night... It may be several weeks before the Stars and Stripes once again fly over Chasewood North, according to Miller, who at one time was the resident manager of the complex.

"We tried to get the flag down but couldn't, so we need to hire a company with a boom truck to get up there and replace the rope and put up the American flag," she said. "I would guesstimate that this would cost $500 or more to do."

Just thought you should know, because, well, you probably aren't going to hear about it from Katie Couric or the NYTimes.

***

Not that anyone seems to care about laws anymore, but the Federal Flag Code prescribes the proper display of and respect for the United States Flag. Pass it around--maybe to a public school teacher in your neighborhood.

Heidi at Euphoric Reality has audio files of interviews with L.A.-area school officials about the upside-down flag at Montebello H.S.

Gerard Van der Leun weighs in on America, the Big Pinata.

Meanwhile, President Bush is headed to Cancun.

And you'll be so glad to know that he has won the backing of the Mexican government for a guest-worker/amnesty (yeah, that's what it is) plan. More.

An EXCELLENT article, thanks for posting. I really have to wonder, if all these thousands, waving their Mexican flags, want our government to be just as corrupt, ineffectual, our economy as bankrupt, as the one they left in Mexico? If they get their way, that seems to be the direction we're headed.

If you study the history of Central and South America, it becomes obvious they can not/do not, historically, maintain solid democratic governments. Governmental changes are often marked by violent, riotous, uprisings, many times inspired by no more than rumor. Do we really want to import millions at a time who do not understand the democratic process and are accustomed to this style of government? Imagine what sort of influence this could have on OUR normally well ordered governmental style!!

Our government IS as corrupt and ineffectual...and we'll all find out how bankrupt our economy is when all these credit card and deferred mortgage bills come due.

Congress should add an amendment to their sovereignty bill that would make it a crime to fly a foreign flag without federal permit.

You may feel our government is corrupt and ineffectual, but in this instance I'm speaking of degree. This is more about the reaction of the public, not the government. Our corruption/ineffectiveness cannot in any way compare with that of almost any country you can name in Central/South America.

As to the volatility of political expression, if Hispanics had reacted in their not unusual fashion, and constituted the majority in this country, a situation like the 2000 election would have resulted in nationwide rioting and violence.

Yes, most any other country in the world IS worse off than ourselves. I'm talking about social trends. We're trending towards them instead of their trending towards us. Eradicating our national sovereignty by merging the U.S. with a third world sewer isn't going to help, and that's what the big money people have in store for us.

They tried that at our highschool , they did it once. Cause we told our school board, if they do it again no taxes from any of us American Gringos. Stick together we pay the taxes they don't pay taxes, like the American taxpayer does. The school board said they would sell our houses, we said are you goin to sell all of them. The school board backed down. Too many emails and phone calls where we gave our names and keep the server and phones ringing. There is strength in being an American.New people who think our way in congress will not hurt either.

I think the demonstrations, with the pictures of Mexican flags, burnings of American flags, etc., have done a great deal to HARM the position of "illegal aliens". People I know, who have never really formed an opinion on the border issue (dumbbells!), have finally embraced the outrage! They've finally gotten the big picture.

One lady even fired her longtime gardeners when they couldn't produce green cards. She, finally, saw herself as part of the problem---one of those illegal employers.

What's going on here is no different than the muslim riots and demonstrations in France. No difference at all.

And, if we are unwilling to act against them, the consequences will be the same.

I'm afraid very few have the constitution for the decisive and severe actions necessary to yield results that guarantee the future of OUR side, of OUR culture.

It would be akin to what the Serbians did in Bosnia. Cultural and ethnic cleansing, and nothing less.

Unless you are willing to accept that reality - and I _am_ - I'm afraid there's little that can change the course of events to come. I wish it were otherwise, but powerful forces of history are on the move, and along with those forces, great demographic changes for the [once-white] West.

Due to our own guilt and self-loathing (a quality peculiar to the Euro-white race), we will eventually be overwhelmed - and subsequently dhimmified - by those of other races and cultures who have NO qualms about the rightness of _their_ repective races and cultures. I predict the day will come when whites in America are subjugated to a kind of "Jim Crow" similar to what blacks of the south once endured. Or, a time when whites are looked upon with suspicion and contempt, the way the Jews of Europe were (are?) once regarded.

This wasn't always so. Only a century ago, we Euro-Americans proudly touted our superiority to the Indian cultures, and vanquished them without second thoughts. But the tables have been turned: as we once invaded and conquered this land, so is this land _again_ being invaded and, eventually, conquered.

We defeated the Indians. But I wouldn't place any bets on the outcome of the current invasion. We have lost our stomach for such struggles.

We seem to have decided that, for all our guns and weapons, we are defenseless against demography. And so, we wait for the inevitable, our vocal protestations (like those right here on this forum) notwithstanding. To take action otherwise would force us to make unavoidable choices that are totally unpalatable to us.

For that, we may get what we deserve.

- John
