Oh, I'm just going to love hearing this argument. Let me tell you, my ancestors on both sides of the family fought for the South. Not one owned a slave. They fought against an invasion force and rightly so. My children will have a love of the South, honor for their ancestors and the symbols those men held dear. They will be proud of and feel no shame for being Southern or having ancestors that fought on the right side of the War, the Confederacy. To say it is not 'moral' to wear a Southern symbol that represents a fight against centralization is a slap in the face to every Southerner I know
"The school" doesn't actually pay them
Send her to Tolerance Camp
I support her too.
You obviously have bought into the "party line" on PC. What she wants to wear is her right under the 1st, and 9th Amendments of the Bill of Rights. But then I forget myself, you must be a damnYankee as you only support the Bill of Rights when it applies to you. I say if she wants to honor her ancestors by wearing said clothing, then by all means she should be allowed to do so. I didn't spend 20 years defending the Constitution to watch schools trash it by their "dress codes" and state sponsored speech and thought. If they are not, then why are Latinos and blacks allowed to wear racially motivated clothing in the name of heritage? But of course the girl is a caucasian so obviously she's doing it for some nefarious reason according to those of a socialistic leaning. Are you proud to be numbered among those?
I hope the school loses in a big way! They should be teaching kids what the Constitution and Bill of Rights are about instead of suppressing those subjects!
Would it be okay if another student wore a Malcolm X shirt she found personally offensive, even if she didn't disrupt class over it?
Like there no enough problems with rampaging illegal aliens, the neo-confederates have to create unnecessary foolishness. More proof the parents of the 'lost cause' provoking their own children. Nice, real nice..
Sure why not, have the dishrag Islamic flag flying, neo-nazi rubbish, Bolshevik banners, abortion now right in the classrooms, drugs - anything goes these days. No rules, just chaos. It must be fun knowing when you have a small part in dividing Americans.

If the shirt was on the Not allowed to wear list than the kid should be punished. For me it's all about RULES.
You hate everything Southern. I support this girl 100%.
I don't hate everything southern just a girl down south who does not follow the rules of the school.
I would suppose then that in your view we should all get together and wear the same type of clothes and march in lock step to the tune of PC. Sounds like what I defended this country against - totalitarianism.
Please show me where it states in the following Amendment "except for the wearing of any symbols denoting one's beliefs, heritage, etc."
Amendment One - Congress shall make NO LAW respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press, or the right of the people to peaceably assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
BTW according to Webster's Dictionary "Abridging means -"to reduce or diminish, to cut short or curtail". PC was the Government's way of trying to circumvent that Amendment. To support the suppression of freedom of expression in anyway, is against everything the Founders believed in when they fought for that freedom, and everything we veterans have fought and died by the thousands for, so that you could enjoy those same freedoms. It doesn't mean that you have to agree or like those expressions, but you should respect the person's right to do them.
Sometimes freedom means you have to grow a thicker skin!

"This is more of the 'my feelings are hurt' litigation. She suffered no notable damages - she can wear what she wants on her own time and express herself then.
I hope the school wins."
I wonder how many kids wear Malcom x tee shirts and are not criticised.
If the school has a dress code that states that no clothing bearing logos or slogans of any kind may be worn on school grounds or at school sanctioned functions, then she should not wear it. Only if they enforce the rule across the board can it be fair. I think the girl may be stirring the pot in this case, and I equally suspect that rainbow flag shirts, Malcolm X shirts, and Che shirts would be tolerated without exception.
