It started with a Hitler salute. Two eastern German soccer teams in the fourth division..

The article refers to neo-nazism as "far right." Yet it is at the worst in East Germany where the folks cannot shake their communist heretige, which is unarguably far left.

Both are bad but Neo-Nazis are more violent and dangerous than Communists.

Statistics reveal communism has killed far more people than nazism. Lenin, Stalin, Mao. Many tens of millions, if not hundreds of millions.
No doubt the German thugs from the olde east are upset with their immigrant intruders.
Their anger is misdirected at this peaceful black footballer, who is no threat to them. OTOH their resident muslims may one day become a problem.
Unemployment in the east is a problem, due in part to poor work ethic among the former communists. Another factor are the once-guest workers that have become permanent (read muslims).
Germany also took in "refugees" from olde east bloc countries and from the former Yugoslavia. Serbs, etc.

It is far easier to pick on the likes of him than to pick on people who may very well riot, burn your cars and your homes, and claim that they did it due to some perceived insult to 'allah.'

Utter nonsense!
Everyone knows that there is no such thing as racism or discrimination in Europe - directed towards blacks, Jews, kulaks, Catholics, Protestants, or any race, religion or creed!
It's the Americans who are racist! Don't believe me? Then just ask any one of the millions of smug, sanctimonious, grand denizens of the Continent.

The Nazi's were leftwingers. As in National Socialism. They were big government, pro-state-owned industry, pro abortion on demand up to birth. They did turn around the German economy of course (not a common accomplishment for left-wingers). I put this down to the Germans becoming united in that whole "tomorrow belongs to me" thing. It's amazing what hope - even hope based on a malignant race myth - will do to an economy.

They were fascists, not socialists

the neo -nazi's are philisophically not much different than your average socialist...except they're National socialists...not international socialists. They hate capitalism, corporatism etc.
Getting back to football...eastern block countries have notoriously nationalistic football fans. They are very racist, towards anyone or any team NOT from their own country. The football fan clubs are little more than organized thuggish mafias. Milosovic's Serbian henchmen would often use these fan club members to carry out nasty business.
