Amnesty Begets More Illegal Immigration
The National Ledger ^ | 04-03-06 | Debra Saunders

Members of Congress who support an immigration bill that would include a guest worker program and what Sen. Chuck Hagel, R-Neb., called a "pathway to legal status" for illegal immigrants insist that they want to discourage further illegal immigration.

If so, they can prove it.

All they have to do is pass a law that allows for that legal pathway only after the number of illegal immigrants shrinks in America from some 12 million today to 8 million, or another number that represents a true reduction in illegal immigrants.

Krikorian believes members of Congress are promising tougher enforcement, but "they have no intention of enforcing the immigration laws, period."

No, and here's the thing: If they make the current 20 million legal they will be falling over themselves to make the following 20 million legal 5 years from now so that the first 20 million keeps voting for the party who is trying hardest to give amnesty to the next 20 million.

And of course that premise is based on the current political thinking that the citizens of Latino heritage want all the Latino illegal aliens to become citizens.

Whether that premise is right or wrong is irrelevant, the two parties believe that is what Latinos want so that will determine future policy.

It's totally irrelevant which party tries hardest to give amnesty to illegal immigrants; they will still vote Democrat for the simple reason that they are socialists.

The GOP better prepare for a significant rise in Black Americans, voting Republican in upcoming elections. Most Black Americans I've spoken to are as ANGRY as hell at this silent response to illegal immigrants, displayed by Black elected officials. This is an issue that all Americans should be coming together on.If there was ever a time for Republicans to seek solidarity with the black community, that time is NOW!

The RNC seems to be losing a lot of these opportunities.

That's exactly true they are socialist lib dems.

No one can say for sure how many of them there are all we know is that 10-20 MILLION criminals snuck into this country.

Our President says "they are doing jobs Americans won't do" REALLY? How do you know this Mr President? That would imply you know and have known where they are , who they are, what employer hired them illegally, the fact that they are not paying taxes, that would make you an accomplice wouldn't it if you know and can say with certainty "they are doing jobs Americans won't do"!

Or is it that you all in Washington cannot say with any certainty who they are, where they are, what they are doing, their TRUE INTENT TO sneak into this country! You cannot have it both ways.

This is a national security threat of epic proportions make no mistake!

Can anyone say with certainty, these are innocent little mexicans just wanting a job? They can? How? And if they truly are mexicans wanting to work why do they sneak in and what do we know about them? Are the carrying any disease? are they criminals, rapists, drug smugglers? Get serious IF you don't know who they are how can you say you know ehere they are what they are doing and what their true intent is and what country they are natives of just becaause they snuck in from the southen border?

National security threat of epic proportions!

I know a lot of moderate Dems who are mad at hell about the illegal alien issue. Blacks are not going to be the only ones to leave the party. Republicans should stick to the Sensenbrenner plan if they want to gain votes.

One of the largest groups of non-voters is the white working poor/middle class. They never have any reason to vote because they usually don't ask for nothing and nothing is given to them. They would turn out to vote for enforcement of our immigration laws.

There would be a few more votes from the black community but not as many as one would imagine.

Established Constitutional law says that any kid born to these guest workers in the U.S. will be an American citizen. Even if the system deports the kids along with their parents it amounts to a massive back door increase in legal immigration.

From what I see and hear, illegal immigration is way up over what it was last year, in South Texas.

That was my point a few days ago, this is spilting the GOP, rich elites vrs party base. But it is also spliting the Democrats too. The working man and working poor know all too well what hapens when wages are driven down. They feel it first.

Illegal immigration shot up back in 2001, when Bush started talking "Amnesty".

Most Black Americans I've spoken to are as ANGRY as hell at this silent response to illegal immigrants, displayed by Black elected officials.

Republicans merely need to pass a substantial immigration reform bill with no or very little amnesty and they win back their base, larger percentage of blacks, the same or larger percentage of legal hispanics as 2004. Problem is, the republicans are busy listening to the NYT, Boston Globe, SF Chronicle, that says they risk alienating all hispanics and that's the only thing they seem to be worrying about.

Our President says "they are doing jobs Americans won't do" REALLY?

The fact that the president can continue telling this BIG LIE with a straight face, thinking that Americans believe him, is beyond me. His loyalties are NOT with American workers, he's made that clear, and American workers deeply resent that lie he continues to tell.
