Charles Ryder at Age of Hooper was at the Simon Deng Freedom Walk rally yesterday, which called attention to the jihadist war on Christians and horros of slavery in Sudan. He took this picture of Deng, a great American:

The Political Pit Bull picked Old Glory at Ground Zero. Lots of readers sending their favorite images of the flag-raising at Iwo Jima.

Reader Tim Hartigan sends the banner from his company's website and e-mails: "The Flag and our work are intertwined. This is a graphic we proudly display at the top of every page of our website. Our company helps in a small way in supplying our armed forces with the best hardware in the world."

Jon Ham at the John Locke Foundation e-mails a lovely Life cover from 1942 and e-mails: "Imagine a mainstream news magazine doing a cover like this today — the American flag portrayed without sarcastic comment, and with the tag line, “United We Stand,” printed unselfconsciously. This was about seven months after Pearl Harbor. Today that cover would be “Why The Japanese Hate Us So.”

Reader Jerry B. sends this moving photo he snapped two months before the Sept. 11 attacks and writes: "I took this photo from the circle line on 7/22/2001. Just as I snapped the photo, a breeze put the flag on the back of the boat into the scene. Little did I know…I’m still employed by the company that was the largest tenant at the WTC, and was in lower Manhattan as the events of 9/11 were taking place. This will always be my favorite flag photo."

The Glenn and Helen show podcast today features an interview with Bill Frist about developments on the immigration legislation front.

Glenn proposes that he might barge into the Capitol, McKinney-style, and start conducting business as an "undocumented Senator."

Heh.

Washington Times:

Senate Republicans will filibuster their own immigration bill today in the face of steadfast refusal by Democrats to allow amendments to the bill that many conservatives view as granting amnesty to illegal aliens.

As an alternative, Majority Leader Bill Frist reached an agreement last night with fellow Republicans on a new comprehensive immigration plan that includes increasing border security and a guest-worker plan, but still does not resolve concerns about amnesty.

The new plan would allow illegal aliens who have been in the United States for more than five years to remain in the country working while applying for U.S. citizenship. Those who have been here between two and five years would have to apply for citizenship at a point of entry, but could remain working. Anyone here for less than two years would have to leave the country, but they could still apply for citizenship from their home country.

Mr. Frist declined to tell The Washington Times last night how he would vote on the alternative measure.

Take time out today to e-mail GOP senators: No Amnesty.

SCRIPT FOR VIVA AMERICA!!!!

Recent illegal alien rally’s in the United States are a cause for great
concern. Our politicians (true to form) will probably not do the right
thing, but... American Christians can do the right thing.

You see, this great nation has a process for immigrants that includes
learning the Constitution and our rights. Those who come in illegally
do not hear the truth about our country and then make assumptions
that are damaging to our nation.

I am proposing a pro Jesus, pro America rally called VIVA AMERICA.
The rally would include:

***Latino music with current Christian and latino artists
***A message about the founding of America, what the Constitution
means, and how we preserve our liberties through sacrifice
***American Etiquette "How to be a good neighbor"
***A Gospel Message

This does not have to be huge. Any church or hall will do. Any church can do it. You can have a hundred small rally's in every church in America, or ... ???

The mass of illegals in our country are a field ripe for harvest.
Luke 10:2 Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly [is] great,
but the labourers [are] few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest,
that he would send forth labourers into his harvest.

TEACH THE CONSTITUTION
TEACH VIRTUE
TEACH GODLINESS
TEACH CHARACTER
TEACH KINDNESS

VIVA AMERICA! VIVA AMERICA! VIVA AMERICA!

FREEDOM/PATRIOTISM RALLY GETS RESULTS

Hundreds Turn Out At Shaw Heights Middle School

A sea of American flags swamped the grounds of Shaw Heights Middle School in Westminster, Colorado, this morning, with the Americans holding those flags demanding answers and action. They had come to show their support for the Constitution and to right some wrongs.

Those wrongs included an illegal (according to Colorado State Attorney General John Suthers) banning of displays of US flags by students and a ban that outlawed certain color schemes of clothing and logos illegally instituted by Principal Myla Shepherd, who refused to come out of the school to address her employers' concerns.

The Shaw Heights story was broken last week by 850 KOA program host Bob Newman, host of the "Gunny Bob Show," Denver's top-rated evening news-talk show.

The Gunny was asked by the father of some kids who had been suspended and chastised by school staffers for violating the illegal flag ban and "neutral" clothing requirement, to get involved, which he did. Gunny Bob, a retired Marine, spread the word on his show and then showed up at the rally.

One result of all the attention was the flag ban being lifted, along with the "neutral" clothing rule. But that was not enough for the Gunny.

Directly challenging Superintendent George Straface as he was surrounded by irate but respectful parents and other pro-America citizens, the Gunny pointed out that as the school superintendent, Mr. Straface had the command authority to immediately reinstate the wrongfully suspended students and clear their records, which Straface did.

However, a demand for an apology was met with stonewalling by Straface, and when a parent asked for the principal's resignation, Straface rejected the call outright, claiming no law had been broken and no rights violated, despite the AG's clear statement to the contrary. Apparently, Superintendent Straface knows more about the law than the AG.

Straface attempted to deceive the crowd by saying one student had been suspended because the Marine Corps short she was wearing was camouflage. He turned pale as a ghost when the parent of that student, standing right beside him, opened his coat to reveal the very same shirt, which was not camouflage but rather showed the letters "USMC" and Marines in their dress blue uniforms. Straface then became angry and began to say, "That shirt symbolizes . . . " when the Gunny cut him off and asked, with his full Marine Corps "war face" on and in a terse voice, "That shirt symbolizes what?"

The crowd went dead silent.

Straface became more angry but the Gunny shut him down by explaining that what the shirt symbolized was the blood sacrifices made by the Marines to protect the country and Constitution.

Then a group of students showed up and approached the Gunny, who thanked the kids for their interest and told them that this was a great civics lesson and that they should pay close attention to how the rally was 100% peaceful, respectful and law abiding.

Stay tuned to the "Gunny Bob Show" as this story continues to develop.
