Becoming U.S. Senate minority leader has hurt Sen. Harry Reid's popularity back home, according to a Review-Journal poll.
Since he was re-elected in 2004 and took the party post, the percentage of Nevadans who view Reid favorably has dropped by 10 percentage points, while the number who view him unfavorably has increased 14 percentage points.
Analysts say it's obvious Reid's new status, which requires him to spout the Democratic party line aggressively and also take the brunt of Republican attacks, has turned off home state voters who saw him as independent. Some are surprised at the magnitude of the shift.

Harry Reid has an image? I saw him on a flight to Las Vegas back in February. He really is a wimp.
He's getting more air time, and his constituents are finally seeing the whining dullard.
Looking forward to seeing this on the MSM TV shows tonight.
Wake me up when it happens, please.
In two years, Reid will be removed by the people and Durbin will be the democratic leader. The people of Illinois match his liberal views so there will be no further problems (except that he'll be leading an even smaller, more militant minority)
Sorry, correction. He's up in 2010. So either he'll be removed as leader by the democrats or in 2010 by the people.
Durbin will do wonders for our side
Let him lead the Dem Party ... right into the ground
I think it is because he was able to snow the folks back home into thinking he was a 'moderate' Democrat. Once he achieved the position of Chief Moonbat, and everything he uttered was carried by the MSM, he could no longer hide his true politics from the folks back home.
Becoming U.S. Senate minority leader has hurt Sen. Harry Reid's popularity back home
Id like to think that the fact that hes a jackass has dented it some as well.
And I bet that's among the general population, and the numbers are worse among likely voters.
Reid's camp answered the poll with typical feistiness. "No one delivers more for Nevada than Senator Reid," his spokeswoman, Sharyn Stein, said in a statement. No Kidding! If there were two dozen senators from Nevada, I wonder if that claim could still be made? |
--good short-term news--
Now they see him for what he is...a bitter old lesbian.
Yeah, terrific. The Republicans can run on the platform, "Vote for us! The Dems are even worse!"
There are a lot of mormons in Nevada, and they will continue to vote for Reid just out of church loyalty.
"He's getting more air time, and his constituents are finally seeing the whining dullard."
Exactly!
We are seeing a replay of the down with Da$$hole Play in the 2004 election.
When some conservative shakers and movers start cancelling conventions and big meetings in Vegas, and tell the owners of the casinos, they will not return to Vegas as long as Reid is Nv's Senator, Reid will change his tune or be out on his ear.
Hey,Im a lesbian too!
