We can agree to disagree with Tony but to just troll without any real substance is purely juvenile.
I suspect King is DU hold over.
It's good to be noble and such on the issue of the beacon of light and hope for people eager to live the American dream but come on, the word on the Latino street is "it's time to get here. We have the numbers." It's a we/ them attitude that's just getting worse. Latino radio stations here in Houston set up vans on street corners in immigrant sections of town to plaster "LA RAZA" bumber stickers on the trucks. To me that's being provocative. The radio station is called LA RAZA. I'm used to the crazy LULAC stuff but this is too much.
I've lived in Texas for 42 of my 47 years. Houston is awash with a flood of illegals. They build our freeways in 1/3 the time our local labor used to do it. That's great! But then someone mentions we have a whole class of people in legal no man's land, like the slaves and that's bad. Because it says we will be lazy and go with the flow if it means good times for us. It feels so good. We often look at the gentried class in the 17 and 18th century re slavery and ask, what were they thinking. Ditto.
It's all good when the economy's moving but at some point there may be some serious dislocation. I'm used to hispanics so it's not racial. I grew up in El Paso. I understand white anglo saxon americans have no one to blame but themselves. We don't have kids anymore at a meaningful rate. So the government we make up the Walmart growth gap with illegal immigrants. I also understand our leaders think they can take the underemployed from south of the border and put them to work here in order to save the power structure in Mexico from being overrun with Chiapas Commander Zero mestizo revolutionaries. They get the playground and we get the burgeoning population?
The trickles become a destabilizing flood. We should get these people moving toward becoming legal and severely restrict the flow for 10 or 20 years. It's going to involve hard headed enforcement, the kind people don't want to see on their evening news. Let's improve on the ways and means for people to legally immigrate and put a stop to the other. We are a nation of laws dammit!
With back stabbing RINOs like Spectre and McLoon, what would anyone expect?
Yep. Thanks for the info.
LOL!
But you did not come onto the thread to instigate.
You were already a regular that just disagreed....
big difference....
when someone has never bothered to post here before- but makes a special effort to stop in and hurl insults....well- this is just childish tantrum mode....
"No, Deffie, it's a glitch in the program. It happens to me all the time."
Me too. Good to know.
LOL, I am pretty sure Mark wanted to reach through the computer and choke me however! :) I say STAND IN LINE! LOL. :)
Thanks Tony for saying better what I did (which is why you get the big $$$$$). Rastermaster, I just think this goes beyond any opposition. George W Bush is best when he speaks from the heart. And he has to do that and tell the opposition DUmmies and RINOs, "You're Wrong, and here's Why you're wrong". They've got some of the best minds over there, and I know they know they have a communication problem (Dick Cheney even tells jokes about it), so I can't figure out why they can't fix it.
My girls wear glasses and would be picked on at school too
Kids can be pretty cruel ... especially the "popular ones"
I just told them there are jerks in this world and that when they grow up they are even bigger jerks
That it's more important to have friends that you can count on then to have fly by night friends who are in the "popular" club
It took a little while for that to sink in their heads .. but they are starting to see what I meant
WELL SAID!
DID YOU SEE THIS!!!!!???
Hello all,
This past Friday night I was privileged to visit Fran O'Brien's steakhouse in the Capitol Hilton, Washington, DC. Every Friday night, Hal Koster, the restaurant manager and Vietnam Vet, invites our wounded soldiers convalescing at nearby Walter Reed Army Center to a free steak dinner and drinks. It was supposedly a "slow" night for our heroes as many were on a ski trip in Colorado. But I walked into an absolutely packed room of wounded soldiers and their families enjoying a minor but well-deserved recognition for their service to our country.
I've also discovered since then that the Hilton Corporation will not be renewing the lease. Apparently, there are too many "liability issues" in accommodating American heroes in wheelchairs. In fact , the lease (and therefore the dinners) will expire in a few short weeks. If America had responded as we would in the past, this would be inconsequential really. Obviously we have not and it is a tragic commentary on today's PC-ness.
Please read the attached e-mail with more of the details.
Best, Buzz

Nonsense! Jobs Americans Wont Do? Think again.
A core element of the American creed has always been a belief in the dignity of labor at least until now. Supporters of a guest-worker program for Mexican laborers say that "there are jobs that no Americans will do." This is an argument that is a step away from suggesting that there are jobs that Americans shouldn't do.
President George Bush, a strong supporter of the guest-worker program, has long said that "family values don't stop at the Rio Grande." We are supposed to believe, however, that the work ethic does stop there it is only south of it that people can be found who are willing to work in construction, landscaping and agricultural jobs. So, without importing those people into our labor market, these jobs would go unfilled, disrupting the economy (and creating an epidemic of unkempt lawns in Southern California).
This is sheer nonsense. According to a new survey by the Pew Hispanic Center, illegals make up 24 percent of workers in agriculture, 17 percent in cleaning, 14 percent in construction, and 12 percent in food production. So 86 percent of construction workers, for instance, are either legal immigrants or Americans, despite the fact that this is one of the alleged categories of untouchable jobs.
