LEOLA, Pennsylvania (AP) -- Police checking on a home in a tiny southeast Pennsylvania town discovered a gruesome scene: six bodies, some wrapped in sheets and blankets in the basement, and blood, bone fragments and a hammer upstairs, authorities said Thursday.

Jessie L. Wise, 60, the owner, was in New York and told the friend he was worried because he hadn't heard from his family since Friday, authorities said.
