I might go. I don't go to the movies a lot to see anything but this has peaked my interest. I think we have become complacent - we have forgotten the passion we felt that day and the days and weeks/months afterwards. It's going on 5 years now. The images are burned in my mind as well. None of us will forget that day, but we have forgotten what we felt like. I think we need this - not to feel anger again but to feel like patriots - like we are once again a "united states". We have become divided. We need to speak and feel with one voice again. I think perhaps this film may be able to do that.
If the images disturb you, then don't go but from what I've seen - this film does not glorify the hijackers.
Nice that they mention the memorial fund. I hope they've gone away from that red crescent design originally proposed.
I think Americans should see this one primarily because of its detail.
The ACLU, Muslims and other atheists will probably protest the film, but I don't care.
As long as they keep their IEDs and scimitars to themselves.
Rush was talking about going to an early preview, look for his comments tomorrow or Monday.
Rush said today that he is going to a special showing tonight.
I want to see it. I didn't see the T.V. version. Maybe I shouldn't admit this, but I need reminders. Also, I know it's only a movie, but maybe I will learn something I didn't know.
I'm mulling whether to take my older children.
"I'm not going to see it, not because I'm against it but because 9/11 is still plenty fresh in my mind and I'd rather not watch it again."
I understand how you feel. However, I think the LEAST we can do is honor their sacrifice by supporting this movie.
I compare it to looking at a picture of our dead soldiers floating in the surf on the beaches of Normandy: THEY made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. The LEAST we can do is be brave enough to look at the photograph.
My $.02
You beat me by less than a minute!! ; )
I think liberals would like for us to forget that we were attacked and thousands of Americans died.
...it doesn't fit into their "America is Evil" propaganda.
it's rated "R"
Aw, hell no...it's simply I know how I felt that day and the range of emotions that raged inside of me.
Some of the intensity may have diminished since then, but this movie (if done like I think it is) can make you break down in a tearful fist-clenching rage. I don't like those feelings. I don't think anyone does.
But...WE...must...never...forget!!!
And I will probably go.
I just wonder how many Muslims will have the guts to go see it? Might be like Santa Anna coming to see the movie The Alamo.
You're absolutely correct about that.
I live in Maryland. My daughter goes to college in Connecticutt. I drive up there periodically. It is hard to drive by without getting a little misty, which I usually forestall by uttering my drive-by NY mantra.
f&%king b!@tards
works for me.
I was thinking the same thing. I bet most of those types will refuse to see it. They don't want to see anything that will make them mad--unless it's directed at President Bush or the United States.
Yikes ... so much for taking the children.
I, too, saw the A&E movie, and was surprised at how good it was. It had me alternatively bawling my eyes out, and mad as heck at the people who did this to us. The actors all did a great job. Particularly moving were the conversations with the passengers loved ones when they realized what was happening. Will I see the movie? Not sure, yet.
HUH?
I just read the flight 93 transcript and it contains some pretty weird stuff...were they preparing to behead the pilot, or did they in fact behead him? They chant just like in the videos, and the context might suggest it. We will never know.
Read the transcript. It's chilling.
