McCain knows about picking lettuce - his buddies picked all kinds of Federal Reserve lettuce during the Keating Five scandals

I still say he needs to be indicted for his part in it. Maybe the citizens of Arizona could start a movement to demand it?

Lettuce if grown outside is a cool weather crop. I don't think it does well in 117 degree temps.

Hey, i'll do even better than that. I'll pick lettuce for $35.00 an hour for a month. Save McCain about $15.00 an hour.

I'll bet he's paying with RUBBER CHECKS!

Undocumented...undocumented checks, my FRiend. I'd bet an hour's wages that this was nothing more than pure publicity stunt and he had NO intention of actually paying anybody anything.

Oops, just scrolled down and got a look at that field of lettuce... I've changed my mind. I wouldn't do it for $35.00 an hour. Was thinking it was Head Lettuce. LOL. Didn't like the looks of that Leaf Lettuce Field....

He said $50 a DAY not an hour. This works out to be $6.25 an hour. I wonder what min. wage is in AZ. Now lets add up housing, food, energy, transportation, health care, etc. How can you and your family live on that wage? It is easy if you get the above for free. Who benefits from this? The worker, AG. company, and the people who provide the above services. Who pays for this? The middle class. Illegals will not like it when they get on the "sucker side" of citizenship.

My sister is a rep for a temp agency. She has already got all the numbers worked out to supply the pickers for the winter. ALLL THE PEOPLE THEY SEND WILL BE CITIZENS AND OR LEGAL TO WORK IN THE US, WILL PAY FULL TAXES, BE INSURED AND HAVE HEALTHCARE COVERAGE THRU THE TEMP AGENCY. Everyone makes a profit and all are happy AND LEGAL!

I don't think it does well in 117 degree temps.

It does well enough to be a major crop in Arizona. We have a winter, too, y'know.

I saw McCain on TV making the quote and he cleary said "50 dollars per HOUR".

Yes, he mant to say $50 per day, but he said hour, which it what makes this so funny. Took forever for a Freeper to point out $50 per hour is not happening for this type of work anywhere.

Do you honestly believe that employers who scoff at the law now will obey new laws?? Illegals who suddenly become legal will simply lose their jobs and join their brothers and sisters on the welfare rolls as their employers bus in new illegal employees to replace them and skirt the new law.
