(Stratford-AP, Apr. 14, 2006 7:52 AM) The Beautification committee of Stratford's town council had to do some scrambling so it wouldn't offend anybody by making a reference to Christmas.
The committee had submitted a request for $2,500 for Christmas wreaths this year. It was apparently a misprint, they were looking for "holiday" wreaths.
Committee chairman Angelo Stavola says he moved quickly to change the wording so as not to offend anybody.
He says it's the holiday season and we consider it the holiday season and they're holiday decorations.
Mayor James Miron agrees. He says in this day and age, to call it a holiday decoration probably makes a lot more sense.
What would they call their Ramadan Prayer Rugs?
That place is off my vacation list for sure!
So....we are going to have a holiday huh ?
What Holiday are we celebrating ?
Trust me, nobody has ever vacationed there.
OOPS! They made a big mistake. They offended me. And several million other Christians.

Mayor Miron,
You and I both know full well that there isn't another
belief system tied to Christmas wreaths other than
Christianity.
As my Jewish family members will tell you, there isn't
anything offensive about a Christmas wreath. A
"holiday wreath," on the other hand, is offensive--to
Jews and Christians alike.
Can we please get over this political nonsense?
Stratford would be a lot better off without it. And
no, it makes no sense whatsoever to refer to "holiday"
trees, lights, or what have you. None. All you do is
insult those who do celebrate Christmas and insult the
intelligence of those who don't.
Regards

I'm offended. Now what will they do?
Of which holiday do they speak??? What other holiday do Christian Americans celebrate somewhere around the 25th. of December (ok, sarcastic I suppose)
