$500,000 seized from truck trying to enter (nuclear)power plant
Pittsburgh Post Gazette ^ | 04-19-06

Posted on 04/19/2006 7:47:36 AM PDT by evets

State police seized more than $500,000 from a truck at the Beaver Valley power plant in Shippingport yesterday.

Two men in a tractor trailer tried to enter the plant around 4:15 p.m. to pick up large tool containers. During a routine inspection, plant security discovered a duffel bag with a large amount of cash.

State police were called, but in the meantime, the truck left. Shippingport police stopped it a mile away on Route 168.

State police arrived and the driver said he didn't know anything about the money or who gave it to him. Police obtained a warrant, opened the duffel bag and found 10 large bundles of cash, totaling $504,230.

The situation drew the support of the state police/FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force, according to a release.

Thanks again, Ian, for all your great work.

I only check in once in a while these days because i am so busy with frequent chemo, (2 thursdays out of every 3) extra shots 4 days a week to keep my blood counts up, blood tests each week, etc. But it has all paid off, along with all your prayers, since my latest blood test last week came back in the range of remission. I had a ct scan today and expect it to show no evidence of disease. All this running around is a small price.

I miss all of you.

It is quite a lot of fun. I got to go to an event last week where the deputy secretary of state was speaking. On Monday I went to a large U.S./China panel discussion that was broadcast on Chinese TV. Definately many interesting people around these parts. :)

"When in Rome ..."

BY Rachel Ehrenfeld
April 19, 2006

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "Tariq Ramadan, who is barred from the U.S., is invited to speak at a conference on May 4-5, 2006, sponsored by the American Embassy in Rome, on "Immigration and Integration: Islam in Europe and Islam in the U.S." The conference is organized by the Centro Studi Americani in Rome, which according to the Web site of its affiliate, John Cabot University, is "one of the major American institutions in Europe." The American Ambassador, Ronald P. Spogli, is scheduled to open the conference.

Ramadan, a Swiss citizen and grandson of the founder of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, Hasan al-Banna, had his visa revoked by the Department of Homeland Security on July 28,2004.The visa was revoked under the Immigration and Nationality Act, amid press speculation that the revocation stemmed from the section barring entry to persons with a "position of prominence within any country to endorse or espouse terrorist activity," or who have "potentially serious adverse foreign policy consequences for the United States."

While no specifics were detailed for this revocation, apparently his activities, lectures and writings in support of the Islamist agenda were the cause for this decision."

TSA Uniform Mysteriously Appears In Woman's Luggage
Local 6 News.com ^ | April 19, 2006 | Local 6

Posted on 04/19/2006 12:25:11 PM PDT by LurkedLongEnough

An airline passenger who arrived in Florida from New Jersey opened her suitcase and found a uniform belonging to a Transportation Security Administration officer, according to a Local 6 News report.

Debra Sanders found the TSA uniform folded and packed with her items.

"My jaw dropped," Sanders said. "I couldn't believe what was on there: Patches for Homeland Security, TSA all over it, and then the name tag with the number."

Sanders had just arrived at Tampa International after flying JetBlue out of Newark.

Sanders said she hopes the incident was just a mistake by a screener but fears someone was trying to pass off the TSA uniform to someone else and put it in the wrong piece of luggage, the report said.

She said her neighbors were killed in the Sept. 11, World Trade Center attacks.

"To see something like this when you don't want something like that happening again, it's a little scary," Sanders said.

The Transportation Security Administration was contacted about the uniform, according to the report.

"Check: Airport Delays
Suspicious Device Found At Atlanta Airport"

POSTED: 2:49 pm EDT April 19, 2006
UPDATED: 3:30 pm EDT April 19, 2006
Email This Story | Print This Story

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "ATLANTA -- Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport officials closed down all security checkpoints Wednesday afternoon after a "suspicious device" was detected in a screening machine."

ARTICLE SNIPPET #2: "The airport remained open and operating, although airport spokeswoman Felicia Browder acknowledged there was no way for passengers entering the airport to access their airplanes.

Browder said Federal Transportation Security Administration workers detected the suspicious item inside a bag just before 2 p.m.

Browder said an airport explosive detection unit was deployed.

Browder said the checkpoint shutdown was delaying flights out of the airport, which is one of the nation's busiest."

"No Justice for White NYU Student Killed by Black Teens"
April 18, 2006
Jim Kouri
by Jim Kouri, CPP

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "Many residents in New York City are unhappy with the disposition of the killing of a white New York University student by four black youths who chased him into oncoming traffic resulting in the student’s death."

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "Today’s determination by the grand jury was the result of a week-long investigation. The evidence discovered by the District Attorney’s office revealed that Mr. Hehman was approached by a group of teenagers. He was held in a bear hug and punched in the side of his head. The teenagers also attempted to rob him.

The victim succeeded in breaking free from his attackers but the group pursued him and converged on him from two sides. He was chased into the street where he was struck by a car. Mr. Hehman sustained fractures to the base of the skull and the side of his head. He suffered cerebral trauma and died at Harlem Hospital days later."
