FRiends,
I live in Thailand. Every couple of years I like to get a fresh couple of cannisters of Mace or pepper spray. I used to order from the USA, but suppliers will no longer send through the mail, and I don't know anyone in the USA that would do that for me.
Pepper spray is legal in Canada in limited form (for protection against bears and dogs only!) and I do have someone there that will send it to me, but it is tough to find. After a couple of hours on the web I could only find one source: http://www.macecanada.com. Shipping from them (within Canada) costs more than the product and selection is limited, so the question is, does anyone know of 1) another supplier in Canada or 2)Another supplier in another part of the world that would mail to Thailand?
Thank you,
Northern Alliance
BUT check out the shipping restrictions. And NOT legal in all areas.
The other problem with pepper spray is that, depending on which way the wind blows, you are just as likely to suffer blowback as you are to stop any potential attacker and end up with a face full of the stuff yourself, just when you need to have all your faculties operating at max levels.
Be creative and think up something different to defend yourself that would not be illegal in your area.
Maybe the stuff works. I bought some once but fortunately never had to use it.
I had heard a while ago that some people who were not allowed to have Mace employed Wasp spray with impressive results. Unfortunately, or fortunately, depending on your outlook, wasp spray effects aren't as temporary as Mace.
Wasp spray and a BIC lighter will do the trick.
I know the limitations of pepper spray on people, particularly the problem with wind. I have used it only once, and it saved me from getting whomped with a 2" X 4" so I am real glad I had it.
I forgot to mention the Canadian rating is different than the American, you cannot even compare active ingredient %, but the Canadian sites insist it is 87% stronger than the Canadian police grade.
Thanks but it says right on the site "Note: We do not ship products or our catalog OUTSIDE the United States." No American company I have found will, and if they did, it would not be by mail which means it would not be practical to send to Thailand in any case.
What is preventing you from asking your local law enforcement people what would be legal for you????
They must have some options which will suit your purpose.
I don't understand why you would prefer to break international shipping law rather than search within the legal parameters for your country.
I know what is legal and what is not, but really, that suggestion strikes me as ridiculous - call the police and ask for a list of what weapons are legal and what are not? C'mon, get serious - no cop is going to get into that. The more likely response would be to put your name on a list of potential trouble makers or crazies.
On top of that, your comment implies that there must be something available locally that is both legal and available for personal protection. That is very naive and not logical. Even pepper spray was completely illegal in Canada until not too long ago. In fact it is illegal to have any weapon for the purpose of self -defence in Canada. If you want to challenge that, I just saw it on a Canadian government web site - I imagine I can find it again, and Canada is far from the only country with laws like that.
You got to be kidding me, troll meister!
Anone sending this stuff through US mail is violating federal regulations.
So send it through Fedex.
Nice try, F-TROOP intern.
(ask your superior what f-Troop means)
"or 2)Another supplier in another part of the world that would mail to Thailand?"
snort...snicker...gufaaaw!
Read the post again. I didn't ask anyone to mail anything.
If Canada's pepper spray is more powerful, good luck to you in getting some if it makes you feel safer.
Like the other posters said, circumventing any laws is not a good idea, and I don't know what countries you might be able to order some from. Some of my photog friends are having the same problem with a sensor cleaning fluid. Companies will not/cannot ship certain chemicals/products internationally.
I'm out of ideas but wish you luck.
So are you asking someone here in the states to break the law and mail you pepper spray even tho it's illegal to do so?
For the last time: please read the blasted post, but here it is again I am asking for: 1) A source of pepper spray in Canada to be sent to another address in Canada, which it is completey legal to do, other than the one I posted because that one charges a fortune for shipping/handling and has a limited selecton
OR
2) A long shot, I know, but believe it or not there are FReepers from many, many countries other than the USA, any experience with or thoughts on any other (i.e., not the USA) country that might not have the American type restriction (recently enacted), on sending pepper spray through the mails but sells the stuff.
Really, I'm sorry I posted this here now.
Well, working under the assumption that this product is illegal in Thailand, since you apparently cannot buy it there, I don't really see how we could help you.
If it is illegal in Thailand, then it would be illegal for companies to ship it there, and Thai customs would, no doubt, discover it and confiscate it.
Good luck to you, but I doubt you will find a legitimate source to ship you a product that is illegal in the destination country.
Geez, some folks need A) more coffee B) more reading comprehension or C) all of the above.
I can't help, but I perfectly understand what you are requesting.
You might try your question on the General Discussion Forum at TheFiringLine.com, if you don't get good results here.
Also perhaps try at FreeDominion.ca, the FR sister site.
How hard could it be to concoct a pepper juice from fresh peppers and put it into a squirt bottle? For that matter, household ammonia would work pretty well. If I was that desperate for a weapon (and I don't blame you!) I would try to improvise rather than do completely without.
