"The owners of the little store were a very nice Brit couple. When they found out that I was an American, they asked what I thought about the news about Clintoon.

I said what news. They gave me the Times, Telegraph and Guardian with that days reality articles on Clintoon. I thanked them and when I got back to our room, my trophy bride said, "What made you so happy!"

I showed her the newspapers, and she couldn't believe it. "

That's pretty interesting. I was staying in a place called Lake Chapala near Guadalajara, Mexico at the time. The only U.S. newspaper available was that odious fishwrapper USAToday but it had the Klintoon story which I devoured for the next four days while sipping fresh squoze OJ on the piaza. I was sure he was toast but alas....

This little store carried USA Today and the NY Slimes. USA Today was current re the date and the Slimes was a day late.

Our papers were totally different in how they protected Clintoon and didn't carry what was in the UK papers. It was a real eye opener.

Since then whenever I check in at a USA motel/hotel, I tell them that I don't want the so called free USA Today delivered, and I want what they pay for it deducted from my bill. Many motels will drop their cost of the rag if you ask them.
