"General Secretary Gorbachev, if you seek peace, if you seek prosperity for the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe, if you seek liberalization: Come here to this gate! Mr. Gorbachev, open this gate! Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall! "

Guess I am not sure if I would want my legacy to go down as the president who built the wall.

IMHO, how can we forget what symbolism "a wall" portrays.

When I look at the Statue Of Liberty, I have to wonder what our forefathers would have thought if they had to enter the U.S. through a wall.

I can't believe we stand for freedom and allow this to happen :-(

That wall was to keep legal citizens IN, the wall being discussed now is to keep illegal aliens OUT. I think that's a very big difference.

And welcome to FR.

==========================================

I can't believe you think freedom is freedom from the law.

WTF are you saying? You went to a public school, huh!

The Berlin Wall kept people IN - not OUT.

Our forefathers came here LEGALLY. Our founding fathers thought enough to make sure it was written into the Constitution that we are to be PROTECTED FROM INVASION.

LEGAL....Can you read that....LEGAL. Our doors are open...but not our F'in windows.

My ancestors who came over to Ellis Island were a different breed of immigrant than those who sneak in here today.

They came here with every intention of assimilating, learned to speak English, respected our laws and embraced America as their own Country.

This wave lurk in the shadows, hide their incomes under the table, anchor their babies for free entitlements, and burn our flag.

They march and protest in anger because they have to obey our laws. How dare you compare them to Ellis Island Immigrants.

The immigrants of today march to shove their roots down our throats. They don't love America... They are defiant!
