Question: Why do you people have to insult some body with different views?

I dunno. Did I do any insulting?

I asked about the livelihood because among Republicans it appears that only those with a financial stake in the peculiar interest of cheap illegal labor have any energy in the illegal cause. It is not a stance that springs up from conservative soil. Perhaps you are the exception.

I love my Prez but on this issue all he does do is TALK. If something isn't done, there will be a civil war in this nation.

Bush to speak in O.C. on Monday
His Irvine stop is part of a weekend trip to California.

GERALD HERBERT, THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

President Bush is extending his weekend trip to California to speak in Irvine on Monday on the volatile issue of immigration overhauls.
Bush will speak to the Orange County Business Council between 8 and 9 a.m. at the Hyatt Regency Irvine, 17900 Jamboree Road, according to Myal Greene, spokesman for U.S. Rep. John Campbell, R-Irvine.

The president has repeatedly said he favors a comprehensive approach to immigration overhauls, one that strengthens borders and includes a guest-worker program that matches “willing workers with jobs that Americans won’t do.” That position puts him at odds with many Republicans in Orange County, including Campbell, who plans to attend the Monday event in his district.

The majority of GOP House members oppose a guest-worker plan.

“The congressman sees this as an opportunity to share his concerns with the president,” Greene said.

Legislation to bolster border security, institute a temporary guest-worker program and provide a path to legalization for many of the estimated 12 million illegal immigrants in the country stalled in the Senate two weeks ago. It is slated for further debate when the Senate reconvenes next week.

The House passed an enforcement-only measure in December.

"Lo siento. Que' idioma habla Presidente Jorge el Lunes?

Yes, it's crazy. And yo habla Castillian Espanol, but I wonder if he wants regular Joe Blows to go to these planned demonstrations to hit on the Mexican babes hanging around. I was in Spain during the end of the cold war and only learned enough Spanish to pick up women in bars, restaurants, discos, beaches, etc.

There was a Communist demonstration in the Plaza Mayor en Madrid that had the prettiest women alive waving red flags around because they didn't have to go to the strict University of Madrid for a day for classes. We only had a few hours to spend with them before catching the train back to Torrejon de Ardos.

I'm rather dreading hearing the speech. Because I'm pretty sure he's going to be saying things that make me regret ever voting for him. (and being in TX, I voted for him in both governor's races as well!). It's a real crummy feeling, considering how much I've supported him in the past. But his notions about amnesty/guest-workers is the cultural equivalent of surrendering to the terrorists, as far as I'm concerned. It just makes me ill to think about it. The country is being thrown away before my very eyes.

Could someone confirm whether the public will be allowed to ask questions?

If so, let's try and craft some interesting ones. They need to be short, self-contained, and difficult to weasel out of.

1. George P. Bush was scheduled to speak at the Dallas march on 4/09/06. Does that signify that the Bush family supports citizens of other countries marching in our streets demanding rights to which they aren't entitled?

2. Hundreds of thousands of citizens of other countries are marching in our streets and making a show of force. They demand that we change our laws to suit them. If we refuse to surrender, what are the chance that you think some of them will riot? Has your failure to secure our borders and oppose illegal immigration put the U.S. at great risk of civil disturbances?

3. On dozens of occasions, you've promoted your "guest" worker program. However, wouldn't our "guests" end up staying here permanently? Their children will be U.S. citizens, they'll buy homes and start businesses, and on and on. In short, nothing is going to make them leave. By calling it a "guest" worker program, haven't you simply been lying?

You are correct. A friend of mine built cabinets until recently and was very good at it. He also knows masonry and cement and structural integrity. Undercut by cheap slaves that his employer and possible employer pays under-the-table. So- he's gaming the system. He's gaming the system now by what? Changed his name so he can collect welfare, food stamps, Social Security for doing nothing.

You are so right on. Its pretty clear to me that if people don't start listening to other people the status quo will continue.

The insults get tiresome. I am pretty tired of having my Patriotism, my manhood(the spineless charge) called into question. But its the Internet so I will recover. I notice when I have a debate in person with folks that have the "deport them all" viewpoint they don't say that to my face. Its pretty funny to see people upset that there called racist. I think that been pretty rare in this debate actually. But many are the first to name call. Though a word of advice to people that hate being called racist. When you make a assumption about someone(an Illegal or legal Mexican) and apply to a whole group of people(Hispanic and Mexicans)Newsflash- that doesn't look good. Its good to avoid phrases like "They all" It just gives ammo to people that are calling you racist. For the record, I think most people are concerned about the Security and Identity of this country. All worthy goals.

I expect to hear Bush once again slander the American worker by saying illegals do jobs Americans won't do.

Ask him, "Once these illegals become Americans, who will do the jobs they as Americans will no longer do? More illegals?"

Lets just get rid of all those pesky laws and everybody will feel just fine.

Time to break out the "Viva la Reagan Revolution" T Shirts and practice chanting, "We didn't leave The Party, The Party Left us!"

"Their children will be U.S. citizens, they'll buy homes and start businesses, and on and on. In short, nothing is going to make them leave."

Been going on since before California became a state. Until recently a fellow named Tom Fuentes was Chairman of the Republican party in Orange County.

Orange County has a higher percent hispanic than San Diego County. Of course LA County is higher, I think.

My only point is this: There are many hispanic origin citizens in California, Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, etc.

Many of them have empathy for the illegal immigrants. Very likely most would vote for a guest worker plan including a path to citizenship. Democrats and Republicans alike.

The politics of the 2006 mid-term election are being waged, with both sides playing to all voters. That includes hispanic voters--the fastest growing demographic in the country at this time.

As to your questions about questions from the public: Get a ticket and go to the event. It is not a big public forum type event, but I expect Bush will get an earfull.

The Sheriff of OC is beginning tougher handling of illegals. Costa Mesa is the FIRST city in the USA to take an official position to get involved with illegal immigrant work.

Gilgrest is from OC. This is not a place where Bush can just hide out in a meeting of illegal-immigrant friendly businesspersons.

There's at least one gated development, in the Turtle Rock area of Irvine, and I think some of the new Northwood parts are gated too. Let me know if you find out any more info on Bush's trip.
