Another Kerry anecdote was when he went to The Frozen Tundra and called Lambeau Field, Lambert Field. Or when he said if he was elected President, his first 100 days would be flying around apologizing for the War on Terror. Still another was the competing Ohio rallies, where Bush's rally blocked roads, gave up on collecting tickets, and had 60,000+ Bush voters waving flags, while Kerry's rally had bussed in union thugs looking dejected and mind numblingly bored at the cadaver on stage droning on. The segment on the news that contrasted the two rallies was priceless. I think it was a Gibson piece..
Thanks for the memory. President Bush came to to our city just prior to the last election. We had tickets but still stood in line 4 hours, in the rain, in August, in Florida just to be close enough to see. I stood on the bleachers and looked back down the streets, at 1000s of shoulder to shoulder people waving flags and cheering for W. It was awesome. My mother in her 70s stood out there with me the whole time and said "it's like he's a rock star" LOL What a great day.

Vallandigham was speaking at a Democratic mass meeting at Mt. Vernon, Ohio, when he was arrested by Major General Ambrose E. Burnside. He was escorted to Kemper Barracks, the military prison in Cincinnati, and tried by a military commission. He was found guilty and sentenced to imprisonment for the duration of the war.
After being denied a writ of habeas corpus, he applied for a writ of certiorari to bring the proceedings of the military commission for review before the Supreme Court of the United States. In the opinion Ex parte Vallandigham,21 his application was denied on the grounds that the Supreme Court had no jurisdiction over a military tribunal.
