Those were made in the 60's and 70's and had to have a theoretical lifetime of more than 10 years, they were built like tank, had all the mechanical and electronic failsafes built-in.

These are made and designed using the year 2000 technology and need to have a lifetime of ? what a year?? and failsafes, what failsafes?

The plans found were said by "anonymous sources" to be doable and it scared certain folks $hitless when they saw them.

With all due respect to both you and Miniter (whose books are good), I just have to say that in reality, we don't know WHAT is coming over our borders--northern OR southern. Suitcase, briefcase, truckload, who knows. It's not as though they're passing through luggage scans on their way into the country. They can get tractor trailer-loads of all kinds of contraband into this country--a nuke wouldn't be out of the question.

this bears repeating several hundred times for those sceptics that think we aren't really vulnerable to nuke attacks. Forget the stupid suitcase nonsense. Full scale nukes can be delivered to US soil, and most agencies know it deep down, and hint at this in their briefing papers.

So....well, I contend that the threat of total destruction of many Muslim countries would slow down these pigs...much the same as Germany or Japan in 1945....both countries were suicidal to large measure, and we didn't turn the other cheek.....

I disagree with the response that the Muslims would love the carnage...sure some may, but we have to respond to these threats of Nuclear destruction....they need to be told...in clear language, that one nuke, is the end of Iran, Syria, and any other counties that encourage these radicals...we can't continue to turn the other cheek....

"Anonymous sources" and "certain folks" are not credible.

I believe that they (the state players Iran, Syria, etc) have been told in no uncertain terms that: if we get it - you get it.

However, they like many on this forum believe it's too good to be true (from their perspective). Plus they know they have little control of the plan. Once set in motion, likely several years ago - it's unlikely to be stopped by them.

I agree but I understand that the sketches are not classified and have circulated. I also believe they were posted here four or five years ago.

Really? We'd nuke Russia, the Ukraine and/or Belarus? That's where the bombs would come from.

"no the design uncovered in the Al-queda safe house in Afghanistan was for low-yield nuclear weapon using plutonium."

Well that makes me feel all warm and fuzzy.

I have to agree with you here. We are at extreme risk right now. When I stop to think about the 11 some odd million people that we estimate that are illegally in our country that we cant get a bead on and think what if 1/10 of 1% are Islamic extremists thats 11,000 people.

11,000 people that can operate inside our country to try and orchestrate our destruction. That's 1000 time more people than it took to shut us down on September 11th.

Now I have no doubt that if Al-Qada can get an operational nuke(s) in the position to create the most terror in our country that they will set them off. But I would add that I think a dirty bomb scenario would be more likely.

At any rate, whether this presentation is credible, or speculation remains to be seen, but I think the underlying message is more important. This scenario is possible and we are not taking the appropriate action to prevent it from happening.

Where does one store and maintain one nuclear weapon, much less ten? Plus, it's a lot harder for a patron state to dish off these nukes because the isotope trail will lead back to their front door and likely result in massive, decisive retaliation from the U.S.

But for the sake of argument, let's say that one device is detonated in... say... someplace on the Eastern Seaboard. That would be enough to grind the country to a halt, because, frankly, major cities would probably begin emptying in a panic since no one would REALLY know how many they have. At that point, AQ could begin sending ultimatums to the WH and set a timeline for the next detonation.

But I don't think they have these weapons, and even if they could, no one wants to be answerable to the U.S. for supplying AQ with WMD, the morning after.

No doubt, no doubt at all.
911 was our wake up call.
I agree, most of America including our beloved leaders are asleep.

You know what they say about history repeating itself: No one ever pays attention that history repeats itself.

If they had'em, they would have used them by now...

This is the same BS that got our CIA believing Saddam was loaded with WMD. Even his commanders thought they were sitting on a load of it, yet other than a few old style weapons, we have found very little.

AQ operates in the same mode. They bullcrap everyone, including their own people. While there is no doubt they have tried to obtain it and still are, the likelihood that they have it has not increased according to all recent Intel that has made it to the public.

Having said that, it could happen, but I've never seen anything believable and WND constantly puts this stuff out as fact when it is nothing but conspiracy theory....(which is why I removed their bumper sticker from my truck)

If a democrat is our commander in chief, I wouldn't take that bet.

If the islamonazis do manage to detonate a series of nukes inside the U.S., all bets are off. After an attack on our home soil of that magnitude, we would have nothing to lose by unleashing the full hell and fury of America's nuclear arsenal upon the Middle-East.

The islamists may revel in their attack upon the U.S., but it would be a very short-lived victory.
