If you raise the bottom pay scale in society, then you must raise the top as well.

It's simple economics.

Unskilled labor jobs will always be the bottom of the earnings scale...whether that bottom is $15/hour or $30/hour is irrelevant because the top will move up right along with the bottom...as will prices and the cost of living.

That is the history that you established for your point. But there are laws to comply with today so it is not the same no matter how obstinate you are about it.
