We must never forget? OK. Have we forgotten Pearl Harbor, the Alamo, Normandy? Did we need an 'entertainment vehicle', a 'star studded blockbuster' to remember any of those? Gina Lolobrigida and Fabian with walk-in roles, and of course Telly Sevalas? What would a historical melodrama be without Telly Sevalas? To borrow a line from the DaVinci Code threads: it's fiction, people!

Thanks for the link. I just watched both trailers and they are very intense. In a free society, people can choose whether they will see the film or not. I almost wish I could make it a civic duty for every patriotic American to see it. As many of our fellow FReepers often comment, a big part of our problem prosecuting the WOT is that people don't/can't/won't remember what happened on 9/11--not in its full horror and reality, not the way they need to in order to maintain the level of rightheous anger a country needs to defeat a determined, evil enemy.

I hope and pray that the controlled fury of the American people is rekindled because we'll need it for the difficult times ahead.

Well, that misrepresents this movie a great deal. There are no stars in it. Every actor is an unknown; in fact, a lot of real-life people are actually playing themselves.

This is a movie that tries to recapture the events without a shred of melodrama. It's attempting to be as exactly accurate and nonfictitious as possible.

According to this critic and some others, it is a grueling, disturbingly intense movie that very well does remind people of that real day.

Fair enough, sorry for the misrepresentation, but I still don't find a reason to watch it myself. That's just me, expecting something else from movies, books, music, etc...

I will go see it. If it will make me angry again, hell yeah.

Have you forgotten?

I'll probably see United 93, but theres no freaking way I'll sit through an Oliver Stone history re-write.

Kayak, I feel the same way....I have a sense of dread....

..but I want to support Todd Beamer's heroism and the heroism of all the others, and the families' support of this....

..and if many of them can sit through this.....surely I can too!

Two weeks before 911...I flew from LA to Chicago.....a nice, long flight.

Seated in the two seats next to me, and across the aisle the next 3 seats.....5!! altogether...were, without a doubt, Mideastern men, 1 woman....

The two next to me were early 20's or late teens, the two across the aisle were a bit older and the woman in her 20's, early 30's....

They kept to themselves, although I did try to prod a bit of conversation from the youngest one sitting next to me.

This was right before 911, so my awareness level wasn't up....but I did think them 'different' and a bit standoffish.

My mind was mostly on my son who I was going to visit.

However, I remember thinking when I engaged the younger man in conversation, that I didn't quite believe his story.

Who knows.....who will ever know....if I, or any others flying at that time, encountered some of these guys, or others who were making a test run????

Still, I will go to this movie.....even though soon, I'm due to fly again soon ....and will surely reflect on this.
