A man suspected of burning and stabbing a pit bull puppy that later died was arrested early Thursday, according to reports.
Deshann Brown, 21, was arrested shortly after midnight in Corinth, a community in Denton County, and charged with animal cruelty, according to a report from NBC 5.
The 10-month-old puppy, named Mercy, died Sunday despite efforts to save her from extensive injuries. She had been cut, stabbed, doused with gasoline and set afire.
At one point last week, her caretakers said she had experienced a comfortable night and was eating.
Mercy was found about two weeks ago in a wooded area in Dallas with burns over 60 percent of her body, NBC 5 reported.
No other information was immediately available.
This sweetie-pie died Sunday from her injuries; nearly 10 days after she was found, burned over 60% of her body. This is the man that police arrested early this morning; Deshann Quatrail Brown, 21:
People in the Dallas area who have been following this story have been praying for justice. An $11,000 reward was being offered for information regarding this crime.
Death penalty. No appeals.
Serial killer in training. Betcha this isn't the first time for this waste of skin.
"An eye for an eye."
It's times like this when it's unfortunate that our legal system doesn't provide for punishment in kind.
Isn't this unbelievable? I am so thankful the police have located this punk.

I read this and cried..This evil devil should have to suffer the same fate as the puppy..It is so sad...
And you know, watch his lawyered mother come out..."But he is a wonderful son."
He should suffer 7 fold. Ironic the puppy was named Mercy...
If he did the same thing to a white person, Je$$e Jackson would already been down in Denton offering him a college scholarship.
It reminds me of my friend's story of how she acquired her kitty. She found him in a box on the side of the road with his tail broken. All his brothers and sisters (they were just little tiny kitties) had been mutilated in one way or another.
How can people do this? How do you devalue life like this? I hope this guy gets what he deserves.
Story line.."He was mistreated growing up, it's all the fault of the white run govenrment, his mother is a crack head and he dosen't know his father...so he HAD to take it out on the dog".......I am already thinking his lawyer should be locked up with a Bubba also...
ANd he is probably an honor student, councils youngster from joining gangs, and is waiting for notification of his Nobel Peace Prize being ready to be picked up. Ideally he'd be dipped in Alpo and dropped in a pack of hungry pit bulls.
That was an egregious crime against the puppy. The man is mentally sick and is comparable to Satan.

Mercy...
There is always a chance that there will not be a happy ending.
And that has happened.
The first sentence from an overnight message tells it all: With unbearable sadness, I regret to tell you that Mercy died Sunday night.
The announcement came from Jonnie England of Operation Kindness, the no-kill shelter that was attempting to pull the 10-month-old pit bull mix through a man-made crisis. You probably know the story. On Good Friday, April 14, two guys, not knowing what else to do, brought the burned dog to the Operation Kindness shelter in Carrollton. Theyd found her in a wooded area behind a North Dallas apartment complex.
People from all over the country rallied behind this dog with good thoughts, money, prayers, hopes and a collective decency shed not previously been shown.
As you also probably know, the recovery from burns isnt an easy thing. It takes a toll on the entire system.
Heres the announcement from Operation Kindness: Mercy died Sunday evening about 9:30 p.m. at the veterinary clinic [Dallas Veterinary Surgical Center] where she was being treated. Doctors said Mercy showed some improvement Saturday, but her condition started to deteriorate Sunday afternoon. She was given a plasma transfusion, but shortly afterward, her heart weakened by burns over 60 percent of her body stopped beating.
What happens next in the story of Mercy?
Everyone who had an emotional investment in this dog will spend part of the day reeling in disbelief. There will be anger. There will be an outcry to make someone pay for the loss of a dog we never even met.
Then, as we think about things, well come to adopt Mercy as yet another animal symbol of the sad side of mankind the unbelievably heartless, ignorant and mean side of mankind. It is not enough, I guess, for people to be mean to each other, some of them have to be mean to the animals, too.
And, perhaps, as we weigh these things, well identify something positive from this experience well remember that so many people rallied to help this dog. Well remember that while none of us had been there when the cruelty occurred, so many were there in the aftermath to offer whatever help they could give.
The dog has left a better legacy on the planet than her attacker will leave.
Jonnie wrote, Mercy was a gentle, valiant and brave dog who suffered unimaginable pain and agony.
Mercys ashes will be spread at the Operation Kindness Memorial Garden (www.operationkindness.org).
The reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in this case reached the $10,000 mark over the weekend. Both the Dallas Animal Services Cruelty Division and Dallas Police Department are investigating the case. If you have information, call 311 or Dallas Animal Services at 214-671-0246.
Meanwhile, remember that humans still have opportunities to help many, many animals. And there remains, also, the responsibility of bringing the bad guys to justice whether they are abusing animals, other adults or children.
We humans are such a curious, frustrating bunch.
And, yet, our dogs and cats appear to rise above humanity and love us in spite of ourselves.
