Antietam is the battle that ended General Lee's movements into the North and gave Lincoln the capital to issue the Emancipation Proclamation.
What, is the KKK going to show up on the battlefield and bawl their little eyes out?

Gordon Young, Imperial Wizard of the World Knights of the Ku Klux Klan, estimated in his application that about 100 people would attend the rally at the nearly 3,300-acre park.
Bet they don't get more than a couple dozen, and that's if they have some coming in from out of state.

It was all downhill rapidly from there.
Confederate deserters in butternut were already hoofing it home on bloody bare feet by that time.

Antietam was 1862, the South had at least another year of victories left in them. They won at Fredericksburg and Chancellorsville after Antietam. The combination of Gettysburg, Chattanooga and Vicksburg are what did the South in.

I'm assuming that the present Klan has retained its traditional Democrat Party roots.

Your timeline is a bit confusing to me. If Antietam (Sept 1862) ended Lee's movements in the North, what was that whole Gettysburg thing (July 1863) about?
Did you mean to say that Antietam stopped the first of 2 attempts to take the war north of the Mason Dixon line?
