The state Senate on Thursday spoke out in favor of a boycott of schools and jobs planned by immigration activists for Monday.

Senators approved a resolution officially recognizing the nationwide protest, which will include rallies in cities throughout California and the United States.

What is the response from the China lobby in San Francisco?

I just checked Singtao and World Journal, and found out they've already started using 'immigrats without certificate' to replace the wording 'illegal immigrants'. That's it.

If I lived in L.A. I might support it as well. That would be a day I could more easily drive to and from work. On the other hand, liberal politicians who support it are as goofy about this as any other issue. All the boycott will do is prove to the rest of the nation that we can get along just fine, thank you, sans "cheap" Mexican labor.

By the way, if a boycotter becomes injured on his day off, will he also boycott the hospital emergency room until May Day plus one?

That's what you think. IIRC, the demonstration in LA, anyway, is supposed to be going on during the late afternoon, just in time for the commute home.

Because we continue to elect them ad nauseum.

I hope they officially give southern californication back to Mexico, along with both their Senators and all the elite actor/activists who have not yet fled.

My response: Let them have their boycott. But, wherever possible, deny services to the illegals. Don't provide transportation, utilities or any other benefits that come with citizenship.
My wife JUST became a citizen last week. She is enraged at these people who want to sidestep the process after she had to spend the time and money necessary to do things the LEGAL way.

I heard the same thing.

It sickens me, but I must acknowledge something.

While we are "distracted" by one day's worth of protests, we have not.....

...held our GOP representatives accountable for not doing something about the tax system... (like the Fair Tax)

...held our GOP representatives accountable for not doing something about the coming crisis in Social Security/Medicare, etc....

...held our GOP representatives accountable for not doing something about utilizing domestic oil sources... (like drilling in ANWR, the oil shales in Montana, off the coast of Florida, etc.)

...held our GOP representatives accountable for not doing something about the Iranian dictator who, even today, rubs our noses in our inability/unwillingness to confront him....

...held our GOP representatives accountable for not doing something about North Korea....

...held our GOP representatives accountable for not doing something about illegal immigration.... (how about sending Nagin's buses to pick them up? Since we know they'll be in one place at one time, and we know it ahead of time, what could be more convenient?)

...held our GOP representatives accountable for not doing something about Eminent Domain abuse....

...and a whole plethora of other things that I won't bother going into here.

I consider myself to somewhat of a moderate-conservative, but my conservative side is becoming ever more frustrated with the GOP. Not that I am crazy/stupid enough to vote for a liberal, but I am beginning to become disillusioned with the GOP. I never thought I'd say it, but I may stay home this November.

If we won't do anything about the ILLEGAL (yeah, I said it) TRESPASSERS ('cause that's what they are) that are in one place at one time, then I have absolutely no faith that we will do anything about any of the above threats that are more remote (in geography or time).

WAKE UP! One day's worth of protests is temporary. The problems I have mentioned above are not. KEEP YOUR EYES OPEN! Don't blind yourselves to one day's worth of news coverage. THESE PROTESTS DON'T MATTER IF WE AREN'T GOING TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT!

Sorry for my rant, but it is only a small glimpse of my frustration. It seems our country is on it's way to a dead end, with the Dems (and their liberal ilk) pushing it ever faster, and the GOP seems to be willing to step aside and let it happen.

I read today that they are making a movie of "Atlas Shrugged". It should be interesting to see the public's reaction, assuming they can understand the message.

Who cares..? The Justice department is the last place that will deliver justice, just like the department of education is the last place that would deliver an education.

Any federal entity is simply a means of distributing confiscated money from the pockets of peoples who provide a return on investment to peoples who simply occupy a federally mandated cost center.

Nothing the federals do means $hit; but everything they do inevitably turns into it, as if by magic.

"Anyone surprised that the CA legislature contains a lot of extreme USA-hating leftists?"

Not only that, but they are incredibly stupid. That
s why they're Liberals. They're the ones who mortgaged their children's future to the energy companies for some electricity a few years ago.

The power companies were laughing all the way to the bank and the Wall Street Journal called the California government people responsible "dimbulbs".

The inmates are running the asylum.

BTW, I heard a story that they caught someone crossing the border who we have formerly held in Guantanamo (sp?). I assume he was a potential muslim terrorist. Any truth to this?

California -156 years ago!

Do you know what happened this week back in 1850, in California?

California became a state.
The State had no electricity.
The State had no money.
Almost everyone spoke Spanish.
There were gun fights in the streets.

So basically, it was just like California today except the women had real breasts and men
didn't hold hands.

POLL TO FREEP

Do you agree with people singing a Spanish-language version of the U.S. national anthem?
Yes, there should be a Spanish version.
No, it should only be sung in English.

You know I bet you were touched at the ceremony.

Indeed I was, not just for my wife, but for all the others in the room - about 30, mostly Hispanic, a few Russians and South East Asians (my wife is Chinese). This took place in Charlotte, NC. The whole room stood and recited the Pledge of Allegiance. I blubbered like a school girl...

I believe that this ceremony takes place on a daily basis, all over the country. These are the silent majority. They pay their taxes, obey the laws and you can bet that they will vote. But like the Cubans in south Florida, they won't be voting Democratic - I know my wife won't be

It seems like your wife appreciates America more than at least half the country. I really like to hear about these stories because people forget that the majority of Americans are ONLY against ILLEGAL immagration. Thank you and best of luck to you and your wife.

I don't care about any one day protest. I do care about what this May Day march of intimidation might achieve. If they cower the pols into exempting them from our laws, this will no longer be a great nation. It will quickly become a third world cesspool, populated by millions of the dregs rejected by other third world cesspools. No assimilation going on, it's colonization. If Bush and congress continues to champion the invaders, this will cease to be a nation of law. It will be a corrupt place ruled by mobs of racist peasants.
