Pinkerton: "America Will Cease to Exist" Under Ratner Open-Border Plan
Fox & Friends Weekend/NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Give Ellen Ratner credit for consistency - if not for logic. For the second week running Ratner used her 'Long & Short of It' platform on Fox & Friends Weekend to tout her solution to the immigration problem - sheer surrender in the form of 'open borders'. Here is Ratner's rant on the same subject from last week's show.

Ratner: "I want to say again . . . I know it gets a lot of mail, why I am in favor of really having open borders between Canada and Mexico, because there is not going to be a way -- you will have lots of -- "

A palpably shocked Kiran Chetry, hosting the segment, interjected: "Open borders? Who else is saying open borders besides you?"

Ratner: "I may be the only one in the world. I will continue to say it."

Ratner's conservative counterweight, Newsday and TCS columnist Jim Pinkerton, explained the consequences of Ratner's proposal:

"If we have open borders we won't have a country. America will cease to exist. The 250-year experiment in democracy will stop. I disagree with you Ellen. I think most people do. Most Democrats do."

Ratner had no reply to Pinkerton's seemingly unassailable logic, focusing instead on the politics of the matter: "I understand most Democrats want an election-year issue. Face it. You can have all the power point presentations [you want] about closing borders and if you need people to pick . . . tomatoes they will come through. Period."

By the way, to answer Kiran's question, I can cite at least one other person promoting open borders. On last week's edition of 'Right Angle,' the public-access TV show I host in Ithaca, a Cornell campus radical, Danny Pearlstein, also advocated open borders.

He even managed to up the anarchistic ante on Ellen, taking the position that not only should we open our borders, we shouldn't screen people for criminal backgrounds . . . or even for being active members of Al-Qaida! Now, I wouldn't expect Ratner would go that far, but these are the eccentric circles in which Ellen swims!

Ratner: "I may be the only one in the world. I will continue to say it."

The Dems and RINOs may not have the guts to come right out and say it, but that's what they're supporting.

This needs to be repeated again and again, the MSM must stop saying May 1 is the "great American march" There is absolutely NOTHING Great about this militant defiant act of terroism!

Think back in history who marched into countries and took them over?
On March 15,1935

HISTORY REPEATING ITSELF???

That's what is happening on May 1 here in the Free World, these illegal aliens and all their suppporters which includes leaders of a third world country to march in defiance of all we hold dear and no one is denouncing or stopping them!!

FWIW, sinkspur, I'm not a Bush-hater. I'm a Dem who's been voting Pubbie and Right-to-Life since 1998. And I'm not naive enough to think that a candidate will ever be anything and everything I ever want.

But when it comes to the subject of national security, for me, that is NOT negotiable. And it seems to me that 43 and the RINOs in Congress have abrogated their responsibilities when they support amnesty.

And if that continues, I will indeed vote Dem in the hopes the if the Pubbies are drubbed hard enough, they'll learn from their mistakes. And if the Dems do win, we'll gird our loins and muddle through 'til the Pubbies grow a brain.

Ellen Ranting Ratner must have been recalling the previous week's TalkingPoints Memo. She seems to have missed the new TalkingPoints Memo that has the Dems (ala Howard Dean) trying to move to the right of Bush's position. Hillary got the memo and she has already changed her position, again, for the 3rd time in the last year. Dems will continue to make it appear that they are to the right of the GOP on the immigration issue until the November election.

Ellen needs to catch up.

To take this one step further, it would also mean there would no longer be a Mexico or Canada, we'd all be just one big happy family. Maybe the United States would become the United Countries of North America. I can see some twisted logic in this scenario being as the USA is the most powerful of the 3.

I don't know how happy it would be. We have surprisingly little in common with mexico, once you get past the "democratic" window-dressing and the putative common ground of European historical influence. If we think the leftwing crackpots in the US are difficult now, imagine having to deal with the authoritarian plutocrat a-holes who have ruled mexico for the last century or more.

You are exactly right. Open borders with Mexico is the silent, unspoken, and often denied agenda, but it's the agenda nevertheless, and it has been since we formed an economic union (i.e. NAFTA) with Mexico. Pinkerton is correct. When the 100,000,000 Mexicans join the 280,000,000 Americans (Estadounidenses, if you prefer,)we will become an entirely different country.

President Bush is not ignoring the Southern border. Just as Ellen Ratner has a gonzo plan, and the Lefties have another plan, and the Conservatives have yet another plan...I have a plan, too.

Just as President Bush didn't kill the Dubai ports deal because he didn't have to tell our allies NO, he let the American people do it. So, the American people kicked their elected representatives in the can, and made them do their jobs. Now, about the WALL. The American people have to build it. Our politicians are useless on this issue. President Bush's hands are tied, since he's busy watching our country be encircled by Communist regimes.
American people, inspired by the awe-inspiring MinuteMen, need to go down there and build that WALL.

Also, look for far Left elements of every stripe to be out in force on May Day. That's their Commie holyday, and no group of people cares less about the poor and downtrodden than the Lefties. Isn't it amazing how they seek to destroy freedom and replace it with Communism? As if just by being a Loonie Leftie, they are guaranteed a place at the top in the new world order...morons and suckers, not to mention truly evil. Just sit back and watch what is not reported by MSM on Commie May Day.

Interesting to note that someone in the media was unaware of one of the MAJOR agenda issues of the 'movement'. Not only is the media NOT reporting what even Ellen Ratner admitted to, but they are seemingly unaware, despite the signage displayed at their many recent protests. I saw this segment and it prompted my e-mail to them:

Fox & Friends:
Please advise viewers that Ellen's view was NO
exception regarding OPEN BORDERS. American's MUST be told that the agenda (DEMANDS) of the illegal
immigrants, their supporters, and their organizers is:
IMMEDIATE LEGALIZATION OF ALL IMMIGRANTS and NO BORDERS.

Please look at this website, it's message and it's
photos from the March 25 rally. This group,
mexica-movement, is one of the main organizers for
these protests. A sample of their protest signage is
below. Despite the american flags, PLEASE read their
message and advise Fox viewers. They deserve to know that Ellen's support of NO BORDERS...IS their agenda.

http://www.mexica-movement.org/granmarcha.htm

OUR CONTINENT, NOT YOURS

STOLEN CONTINENT

WE ARE INDIGENOUS, THE ONLY OWNERS OF THIS CONTINENT

IF YOU THINK Im ILLEGAL BECAUSE I'M MEXICAN, LEARN THE
TRUE HISTORY BECAUSE I'M IN MY HOMELAND

THIS IS STOLEN LAND

CONTINENTE ROBADO

ITS OUT CONTINENT, STUPID MINUTEMEN

WHITE RACISTS, THIS IS OUR CONTINENT

........................
I have often heard interviewers 'call out' those who refuse to use the word 'illegal'. The explanation given by 'movement' representatives on tv is usually one of a 'human rights' nature, "no humans are illegal". But the real reason is that they do not consider themselves to be here in our country illegally and are determined to take back what they believe to be theirs and stolen from them.

I have backed Bush 100%, including Dubai because after much research I agreed with him and did not believe the deal to be a threat to our national security.

But I have always been concerned that even after 9/11 NO one, from either party, has put politics aside and made an effort to secure our borders. The immigration issue is the first time I have parted opinions with GWB and frankly, I am disappointed that he has taken the side he has, rather than listening to those of us who have long supported him. On this issue, I do not trust his leadership and I am saddened by that because I know that if this issue causes a loss in November, the democrats WILL impeach him and as a result, WILL force our troops to surrender in Iraq, end terrorist surveillance and the patriot act, and will not effectively continue to fight what they call "Bush's" war on terror.

Yeah, until this wonderful economy tanks and we have lines of unemployed people lined up around the block, which is something an entire generation has never seen. I am old enough to recall when companies had big signs on their doors or windows that stated, "Not accepting applications". Everyone is in for one heck of a shock when the good times stop rolling and we have millions of illegals to take care of in addition to our own people.

Exactly right!

As well, logic has nothing to do with anything for libs. They don't use it. In fact, they disregard it when others do. It's all agenda driven and most of that is about as well thought through as a skydiver that wants to go skydiving for the first time but forgets the chute.
