"He [Michael Graham] also mentioned my abridgement of First Amendment rights, i.e. talking about campaign finance reform....I know that money corrupts....I would rather have a clean government than one where quote First Amendment rights are being respected, that has become corrupt. If I had my choice, I'd rather have the clean government."

He didn't really say that, did he?
You have GOT to check this out!
Uh, yeah! Taking one's ability to criticize government officials will clean up government!
OLTG shakes his head in suspended belief...
Watch the video..
"I'd rather have clean government".....this could only come from a self-important politician. He ought to know there's no such thing as clean government. How can an industry peopled by whores, megalomaniacs, and Kennedys possibly even hope to be clean?
Oh but he's better than Hillary!!!!
I'd vote for Clinton over McCain, because the GOP will at least block what Clinton does, they lose their spines when one their own is a liberal.
prisoner6
I did, un-freaking-believeable. Thankfully, he just sunk his presidential campaign.
McCain is the American Hugo Chavez.
There are Republicans
There are Democrats
There is McCain
Bad sound bite for McCain. One problem with McCain is that he shoots from the hip. That has its plusses and minues, but in a POTUS position, it might not be the best option.
If I had any sharea of McCain on the prediction markets, I'd start selling. He just lost the nomination. That one quote will destroy him.
He doesn't get that choice.
Well John, That leaves you out of the running for POTUS.....doesn't it!!!
This is a good time to point out that the McCain political machine has been aiming for months to pile infamy on top of infamy when it comes to the First Amendment.
They have been using the Abramoff scandal as a springboard to so-called 'lobbying reform'...which is in fact meant to remold our unalienable right to petition our own government into his own warped vision of how things should be.
He's made it clear that he intends to define what a 'legitimate' Christian organizaiton is, for one thing.
Scary.
McCain was not really in the hunt anyway. It is a Rudy and Mitt deal, unless someone else gains traction to add to the mix. I really don't see anyone.
Holy %^&* -- well we saw it coming with the McCain-Feingold anti-Constitution bill. Or should I say, anti-First-Amendment bill. McCain is typical of the lunacy and anti-Americanism that is being used as a political tool to GAIN POWER in Washington. McCain, like the rest, and even our own president, have no regard for America, our Constituion, the WILL OF THE PEOPLE and the RIGHTS OF THE PEOPLE.
It should be clear by now...
This is a really sad commentary as to how far the GOP has fallen. I don't even know these people anymore.
WELL...Thanks for FINALLY LETTING US KNOW, Johnnie boy...as the Pres said tonight at the Correspondents Dinner.....you ain't Republican.....or Conservative at all.
I really think you're giving them too much credit.
I can't believe he actually said it. I mean, I knew he believed it, but I can't believe he said it.
For years, and now I reiterate, I will not vote for McCain for anything!
I would rather have a clean gun than a government where politicians are respected.
Do not make McPain out to be something special in DC. He is not. He is the epitome of a politician.
He sticks his finger in the wind to see what is blowing by that day and how he can take advantage of it to get face time. No morals, no values. Just personal power. Conservative when it gets him face time, liberal when it gets him face time.
As you hear on the video, he will even abandon the Constitution, if it suits his needs. Yup, the same Constitution that he swore an oath to uphold.
Sorry McPain: You are a war hero and I appreciate that. But you are a typical power hungry, valueless politician that is in love with seeing his face on TV and you will crush anyone, anything, any Constitutional Amendment, any party, any religion, any value to keep your throne.
This is nuts. Hell, following McCain's standards Alexander Hamilton and Jefferson would have been expelled from the government.
My thoughts exactly.
Obviously depends on the degree of corruption in question. If small - then he's wrong, if egregious - then right.
He is such an idiot. Why want Arizona elect a really great conservative republican and send Cain where he belongs....retire this idiot, please.
First Mitt with his socialist health care plan, and now McCain says this. Who's next?
McCain is a dangerous nut.
Well, I'd rather McCain just shut the hell up and retire.
The ironic part is that his form of restraint on free speech doesn't even result in the 'clean government' that he claims to subscribe to.
In fact, it does exactly the opposite. It doesn't do anything but protect corrupt and useless incumbents.
Doesn't losing something require having had it in the first place?
His thought out positions are even worse!!!! CFR and the present Illegal alien amnesty are just two examples. Don't forget he's a crook also..."Keating five".
So, if the congresscritters can't be trusted, then the solution is to remove our 1st Amendment rights? Sure, that makes sense. Idiot.
Rudy isnt even running and the ken doll with plastic hair is going to sink faster then the titanic when people realise what a flaming Rino he is.

Romney: Catholic hospitals not exempt from offering emergency contraception By GLEN JOHNSON, Associated Press writer
BOSTON -- Facing opposition from women, the Democratic Party and even his own running mate, Gov. Mitt Romney abandoned plans yesterday to exempt religious and other private hospitals from a new law requiring them to dispense emergency contraception to rape victims.

Governor Mitt Romney has signed into law a permanent assault weapons ban that he says will make it harder for criminals to get their hands on these guns.
''I respect and will protect a woman's right to choose. This choice is a deeply personal one," Romney wrote in answer to a NARAL questionnaire during the [2002] campaign. ''Women should be free to choose based on their own beliefs, not mine and not the government's."

Summary of Romney abortion stances

"I believe that abortion should be safe and legal in this country. I have since the time that my mom took that position when she ran in 1970 as a US Senate candidate. I believe that since Roe v. Wade has been the law for 20 years we should sustain and support it."
"Regardless of one's beliefs about choice, you would hope it would be safe and legal,"
Tovia Smith of Boston University radio station WBUR asked: "Mr. Romney, you say you're a moderate on social issues. One who will defend abortion rights, equal rights for women, for blacks, and for gays. In fact you say you will do more to promote gay rights than Senator Kennedy. You also sit on the national executive board of the Boy Scouts of America, which has an exclusionary policy banning gay members. Do you support that policy, and if not have you ever done anything as a board member to oppose it?"
"...I feel that all people should be allowed to participate in the Boy Scouts regardless of their sexual orientation."

"The Winter Games in Salt Lake City, Utah, next month will be the first to open its arms to the gay community. Organisers of the 2002 Winter Olympics have actively gone out to get the gay community involved."

he said he would support domestic partnership benefits, at one point saying they would become a "hallmark of my leadership as governor." ... Romney has broader goals in mind, and will use this opportunity to establish further rights for gay couples, Fehrnstrom said. "At the end of the day, same-sex couples will end up with more rights and benefits than they previously enjoyed," he said.
