I would rather have a clean government than one where quote First Amendment rights are being respected, that has become corrupt.

this is pretty remarkable. Listen to the flow of his remark, which sheds light on his (skewed...) reasoning. This man is an elitist, thinks we don't know jack, and that he can govern us for our benefit better than we ever possibly could. From where I'm looking, the only difference between John McCain and Hillary Clinton at this point is the Pants Suit.

In a nutshell, Johnny boy thinks it's a choice between hypocritical speech, corruption (which apparently in his eyes, only "he" has nobly taken to task) or a "clean" government, again defined by his highness. Not a mention about how his "noble" law illegally and unconstitutionally clamps what and when we can say it. Oh, Johnny-boy, if that were the all-of-the-world, it's a wonder we ever survived the other 229 years of our Nation's existence... we didn't have you to protect us from the corruption that surely existed back then!

Senator McCain, I know you or one of your supporting hacks will be sure to read any comments about this, simply 'cause you're a RINO politico hack, yourself. Here's some news for you: Corruption is a sin that never truly goes away, because its seed can be found in each human breast. THIS IS WHY WE HAVE A REPRESENTATIVE GOVERNMENT, dividing power among the three branches so that WE the PEOPLE can LIMIT the power of corruption and/or it's spread over us, and so that WE can exercise our LEGITIMATE RIGHT to keep DEMAGOGUES like Hillary Clinton, John Kerry, Al Gore and YOU out of the White House.

It's bad enough, Senator, that you are either too damned foolish or truly do not care a whit about this to see that your self-congratulatory pat-on-the-back for the finance law is not a step towards (your definition of...) "clean" government, but rather a symptom of the disease - your act muzzled the People, and did nothing to "clean" the special interest affects from our political process - does "527" jog any thoughts, Senator? Does the name George Soros ring a bell?

One last time, Senator, in caps so you can Read. It. Slowly. And. Clearly...

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
