This should be a list of who is planning to close their business on Monday, May 1 in response of the Great American Boycott. We should compile it and boycott them ourselves if possible!
Remember to go shopping or work overtime on May 1!

I may just bookmark this thread for the recipes. :)
Oh man, thanks for the Monday morning laugh!!!
Excellent. Well done. I'm going to call them today. (Is there a 1-800 number, by any chance?)
These guys have enough influence that if we can hurt them the word will get out and we might get some clout.
Easy Does It:)
I never even came CLOSE to saying that, sully.
All I said was that the day ITSELF was not the problem........it's what has been done to it that is.
I just called Don Pablos (just down the road 1/2 mile) and they're open today- although I'm not sure if it's owned and/or run by Mexicans.
The gal who answered the phone said I was the 3rd person who had called asking that question this morning!
You had me going that you were serious until you added the farce that you're planning a vacation to Houston! LOL!
And do not forget that Don Tyson was a major FOB, and supported the serial rapist bastard. I haven't knowingly had a bite of a Tyson product since the Toon administration.
Wouldn't it be great if the DOW surpassed its all time high? Today: Dow 11,403.24 36.10 (0.32%)
All time high = 11,700. It would require a huge rally, too bad we didn't think of this sooner to organize a rally.
If I remember right Taco Bell is owned by Pepsi CO. which according to an Post 77 has closed plants today.
FYI ping
huh? I am, seriously. My wife and I want to relocate further South, and Houston is one potential place we're going to check out.
:)Easy Does It:)
beautiful city of Barstow< California
Costa Azul(mexican restaurant)
Dennis
Ihop
Casa Jimenez(Ice arrested 2 last week)
Carl's jr
Burguer King
Lola's Kitchen
Plata's
the reason i know that, is because i hang out on all those places.
also McDonalds
Well, they're not closing, but Ralphs Market should be at the top of the list. Do a search on "Ralphs" to see why. GRRRRRR!
I'm here at work at the law office.
Here's two boycott supporters:
Wasatch Beers (in Utah)
Gallo Wines
Both are closing down for the boycott according to this news link:
http://www.cnn.com/2006/US/04/30/immigration.boycott.ap/index.html
Greg Schirf
Owner
Wasatch Beers

Gallo's Contact Page

I would guess that Wasatch Beers would be a fairly easy to counter target because it is a small brewery. I never heard of them but I emailed both companies yesterday and let them know they were permanently off my buy list.
This post is a GREAT idea. I hope everyone on this forum reads it. Big BUMP
You're quite welcome.
I'm sure taking notes here in nashville....even if I have to give up my mole poblado
Forgive me, as you were marking May Day as innocent. My parents taught me that May Day was co-opted by the communist. The demonstrations held today are funded by the communists. I was merely pointing out that this is nothing more than a typical front. Wouldn't be surprised there is face painting for the children as they hold placards saying, "DON'T TAKE MY DADDY AWAY."
ColdHeat was the other intended receiver of the post.
VIVA RECONQUISTA! VIVA MEChA! VIVA SALSA CON HUEVOS!
Sounds delicious Mama, I'll try it!
btw....congrats for staying in sidebar this long...a record of late for an illegals thread
No problem. As an alum, I've heard way too many "chicken jokes", so I may be just a wee bit sensitive on the subject.
Shun the boycott BUMP
Greet the clerks with "Season's Greetings and Happy Holidays". That ought to have them scratching their heads.
Holidaze this week include Communist May Day (May 1), Isreal's Independence Day (May 3), National Day Of Prayer (May 4), and Cinco de Maio (Mayo 5). While you may not "personally" embrace any/all of these holidays, it is PC to strip them of their name and just refer to this as a holiday season.
Usually the night before would be spent making our Maybaskets which would consist of anything from construction paper cones to styrofoam cups decorated with spring-themed stickers. Then we'd use a pipecleaner as the basket handle, and fill it with candy and popcorn.
We'd leave the baskets on our friends' doorsteps, ring the bell and run!
Ahhh those were the days!
They are trying to screw with the Bush economy.
Old concept too. I remember in my economics class, some decades old protest plan to trigger a run on banks by getting many people to withdraw their money all on the same day.
The Communists never give up.
No, it is a demonstration against some very stupid reactionary hyperbole emanating from various groups who are not normally aligned and the "right" has jumped into it with both feet, as they did with Schiavo, Miers, social security and the ports deal.
It makes us all look stupid, and has destroyed the base of the party which will certainly cause reversals at the polls.
Secondly, it simply interlocks with what is normally a day of parties and back yard BBQ's and much of the rest of the country, even without the issue.....
I find the verbal hyperbole and invectives issued against May Day and Mexicans to be stupid, dangerous and apparently a continuation of what is more knee jerking from the right wing. (a once fairly considerate and non-reactionary group of people)
So now you have justified all the silly and debasing things that the left alway tars us with, and this is not a good day, or a good 2 years for the Republican Party as a direct result.
The "Backlash" will certainly be forthcoming and I can't think of a more deserving group of outofcontrol politically ignorant conservatives..
This is not what we are about.
I think you're right. I was looking at info thats older and the owner of Taco bell is American. The parent company may be Pepsi, but I dont know if they have a separate President.
But I think boycotting companies that hire illegals is a catch-22. IMO giving them a BOOM of business on the day their workers fail to show will send a real message.
But companies like Taco Bell don't hire illegal aliens, do they?
I don't blame you:)
Those I also heard on the news this morning.
Just heard of WBAP (Dallas) that Tyson's plants and *some* Purdue Farms plants are closed today.
Two more names for MY boycott list.
Har, Har, Har!
Communists under the woodpile?
I have not heard that one for at least a generation.
If I don't make tacos at home, that is where I always go. I'm not boycotting Mexican culture in general, but I am boycotting anything related to illegals.
Anyone notice the U.N. flags being waved by illegals in Homestead Florida?
The GOP base wants borders enforced. The majority of Americans want the unchecked reconquista to end. It's a vocal minority that wish to make an issue and demonstrate. It's a vocal minority that wants to ignore constitutionally mandated rules on enforcement of US sovereignty. It's a vocal minority that is using spin to call all of us racists (a joke to say the least).
Am I talking to a WH operative here? George is that you?
Yep, even though they have been silent on the issue...
I guess your grass cutting can wait.:-) The cattle can be fed tomorrow, and the fruit and vegetable harvesting might wait another day.....but then most of these folks were going to work a half day and party in any case...
I work in a 25 story building in Los Angeles. In the lobby is a cafe chain called BRIAZZ.
Only one person showed up for work today ... out of about 15-18.
Happy Pinko de mayo, Cold Heat
btw: >"rotational heads"??? Linda Blair, is that you?

Don't Buy Meat This Monday! A Way to Protest Companies that Support Illegal Immigration
The "Backlash" will certainly be forthcoming and I can't think of a more deserving group of outofcontrol politically ignorant conservatives.
I put over $50 worth of Mobil gas into my SUV this morning.
While pumping the gas, I saw a typical illegal alien yard crew pull into the station. The usual "crowd" was standing around and I saw a beautiful thing.
The Hispanic foreman of this job crew was fighting with another guy in Spanish who was refusing to work today.
The foreman told him in Spanish:
"Never get in one of my trucks again! If you want to go hang out with the "lazies" (I can't say what he really said!) that's your choice! But don't come to me for work anymore you "lazy"! "
I almost laughed out loud.
