Editorial: Jury opted for courage over revenge (Barf Alert!)
Minneapolis StarTribune (aka The Red Star) ^ | 5/05/06 | Editorial Opinion

Posted on 05/05/2006 2:36:56 PM PDT by MplsSteve

Americans can be proud of a jury that had the courage to reject the death penalty for a man so despicable as Zacarias Moussaoui. Never had the nation suffered a crime so horrendous as that of Sept. 11, 2001, and seldom had a defendant so relished his role (a bit part, as it turns out) in the terror. Moussaoui all but sneered at the victims and their tearful families, and boasted joyfully of Al-Qaida's treachery.

Yet, the jury spared his life and rightfully so. Moussaoui may have entered this country with an intent to do terrible things. But he never did them.

Another nugget of journalistic "gold" from the America-loathing, fellow-travelling, Islam-loving crowd at the Minneapolis StarTribune.

Opinions or comments - anyone?

Thank God that the editorial board of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune has absolutely nothing to do with running the War on Terror.

Or, for that matter, a courtroom.

That entire editorial board should be made to view tapes of the people jumping from the towers on 9/11.

In this blather they mention that they just happen to be against the death penalty "in any case" -- so they are against the death penalty for any of the top leaders of Al Qaeda, against the death penalty for any of the specific planners of 9/11 and other mass terrorism events (that rules out Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and Ramzi Binzalbib, etc.).

Yes, the Red Star Tribune thinks we should house and feed (in comfort, I'm sure) all mass-murdering terrorists for decades.

Yet they foam at the mouth with hatred for anyone who wants to actually wage and win the war on terrorists, etc.

Yeah, these are real paragons of virtue and models of intelligence.

Who? The terrorist or the author of this article?

I see cowardice, Mossaoui should of been fed to giant flemish rabbits. A fate worse than death. Than again, I don't want to ruin them bunnies.

Courage?
Viewing Mass murder as a video game is now "courage"?

Retribution and justice are words I am very familiar with, and have no need to debate.
Even when no member of my family is one of the victims.

For many people in our country, 9-11 was not enough to wake them from their stupor.

Courage my @$$. Moussaoui is already plotting his next batch of antics to continue making a bigger mockery of the U.S. "Justice" than it already is.

"the courage to reject the death penalty"

It takes cowards to fail to impose the death penalty.

And even that half-wit idiot murderer Moussaoui knows it, and made it clear right in the faces of the jury.

But the Minneapolis Star Tribune doesn't get it.

Those ultra cowardly morons expose their true disgusting face. As they seek to soothe their fragile psyches by desperately and ridiculously proclaiming "courage", they clearly reveal what they are so sorely lacking and trying to hide.

I meant Moussaoui. I don't favor the death penalty for writing drivel - maybe just a public flogging, tar and feathers, and ridden out of town on a rail.

But he never did them.

Neither did Timothy McVeigh, and we know what punishment he received.

Our only hope is that some patriotic con will shank this toad on the exercise yard.

There is no "exercise yard" at ADX Florence the "supermax prison" where Mr. Moussaoui will spend the rest of his life. The prison is underground. There are no windows. There is no communication with other prisoners. He will eat his meals in his cell.

At the guards' discretion he will be led in shackles to another room to "exercise" alone. The room is empty. There is no exercise equipment.

In short he will will spend up to 23 hours a day in essentially solitary confinement until he slowly goes mad.

All of you that think that Mr. Moussaoui is "getting off light" no NOTHING about ADX Florence. I would rather be executed then spend the rest of my life in that high tech dungeon.

Whoever wrote this piece of garbage is bending over and picking up the soap for Mr. Moussauai. Our media is chock full of fruits, nuts, dolts, communists and every other bottom dwelling scum imaginable. Once upon a time it was a reputable job to be a journalist, today it's a just another medium to peddle snake oil and lies.

I think it's pretty well established that he's already mad, as in mad dog. I don't really care what the conditions of his confinement are - he should have been executed for the message that would send, i.e. that we value our citizens' lives enough to kill their murderers and their collaborators.

"Neither did Timothy McVeigh, and we know what punishment he received."

Yeah but McVeigh was a white guy, it's alright to execute those types without breaking any pc rules. Political correctness saved Mr. Moussauai's miserable life, and political correctness will be the downfall of America if we don't wake up and smell the roses pretty quickly.

"All of you that think that Mr. Moussaoui is "getting off light" no NOTHING about ADX Florence."

So would I; but I still think that not executing him was a HUGE mistake.

It shows a serious weakness in America, and unwillingness to deal as harshly as possible with our worst enemies.

It allows Moussaoui to continue to make news through his lawyers, his family, and an eager liberal media.

It opens the door to having some poor American/s kidnapped by al Quaida and ransomed for a 'prisoner exchange'.
