I have seen one quote where the rate of climb on the Bearcat was over 30% faster than the Hellcats. Your basic point defense fighter.

The VS of the Bearcat was the focus of the engineering of the aircraft.

I have only seen and worked on one in my life however. Howard Pardue owned one at one time and this gave me the blissful experience. I do recall that there was an issue with the mating of the wing to the fuselage and there was reported of at least one time of a failure with it.

Even in the hands of the French I can't see were the capabilities of the "Bearcat" could be downplayed!

O, thus be it ever when freemen shall stand,
Between their lov'd homes and the war's desolation;

Blest with vict'ry and peace, may the heav'n-rescued land
Praise the Pow'r that hath made and preserv'd us as a nation!

Then conquer we must, when our cause is just,
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust".

And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

LOVE that 4th verse!!!

An update FOR Ev:

TOBYHANNA ARMY DEPOT, Pa. (Army News Service, May 4, 2006) – Soldiers are being equipped with computers that give new meaning to first aid. Technicians in the Computer Service and Repair Branch are programming computers that allow medics and other medical personnel to diagnose and probably treat injuries ranging from snake bites to gunshot wounds.
