Republican Right Abandoning Bush
MSNBC ^ | May 5, 2006 | AP

WASHINGTON - Angry conservatives are driving the approval ratings of President Bush and the GOP-led Congress to dismal new lows, according to an AP-Ipsos poll that underscores why Republicans fear an Election Day massacre.

Six months out, the intensity of opposition to Bush and Congress has risen sharply, along with the percentage of Americans who believe the nation is on the wrong track.

The AP-Ipsos poll also suggests that Democratic voters are far more motivated than Republicans. Elections in the middle of a president’s term traditionally favor the party whose core supporters are the most energized.

Ha anyone bothered to check the WH website lately? The WH is right in line with the conservative agenda on illegal immigration except the "guest worker" part.

I'm with some of the above posters. Everyone needs to take a chill pill who thinks the pubbies are ignoring them.

The House has the bill and they need to work out the details with the Senate.

Let's cut out the bickering and discuss the "guest worker" question.

No one is calling for Amnesty.

The bill proposes a fence and and a new national program to "catch" and track illegals.

"I find it hard to imagine that anyone who describes themselves as conservative would give Bush a positive rating at this point. I'm right there with him on the WOT but he has been a disaster at home."

Does that mean you will be voting for a Democrat in the US House or US Senate? If it does, Dingy Harry and Crazy Nancy may be in charge of things in DC. Will you be as happy in November as you are in May?

you will have all of that and more if we do not go to the polls and vote for the "best" "Republican Conservative" available.

Bush isn't running again so the point is that in the future we need to be more careful who we run as president.

Tax cuts and judicial appointments have been good. Of course spending is a sore point.

I find it hard to imagine that anyone who describes themselves as conservative would give Bush a positive rating at this point.

Roger that.

In addition to: illegal immigration, explosive government growth, huge deficits, you can add that Bush has managed to effectively destroy the Republican coalition.

Two numbers are significant:

The recent Free REpublic poll that showed that 60% of us would vote other than republican.

A recent poll on MSNBC that showed 67% of republicans are dissatisfied with Bush. That's not 67% of voters, but 67% of republicans.

These numbers are essentially consistent. Bush has lost the base.

While our troops are battling against terrorism and not finding events that please them, I think that we should not expect less of ourselves. Yes, things are not the way we would like them to be, same as in Iraq. Yes, people at all levels make mistakes, just like in Iraq. Yes, bad decisions have been made, just like in Iraq. Sooo??? So what! We can no more lose heart here at home then we would want our troops to give up, take their bat and go home. Suck it up, do the best you can and hope for the best. Whining doesn't win elections. My rant for the week.

It is not fear mongering. It is reality. I will give you the benefit of the doubt, because I know that you are fairly young. I just want those beautiful girls of yours to have a chance at a good life.

If you want to give this country over to the Muslim's I can't do anything to stop you.

Believe me I'm not trying to play gotcha, but you made the above comment and then said to me, "they have been here for decades, why worry now?" I admit it, I'm really worried whether they are streaming across today or been here for years.

Well, I'm with you there. I've already said I will vote Republican in 2006 and 2008, but Republican politicians have got to shape up because many Republicans/conservatives will not. People are feeling really let down.

Increasingly I'm thinking the West is doomed to be under Sharia law within the next generation. And these "conservatives abandoning Bush" will be just as responsible for that as the most lunatic denizen of the fever swamp left. But that's okay, as long as Bush is punished for the "No Child Left Behind Act."

BINGO!

I refuse to 'punish' Bush and the Rino's by leaving the Dems run the show and us into the ground. NO way No how! I'll hold my nose and vote them back in...then do MY JOB of emailing, calling and pressuring them to do the RIGHT thing. Or support real conservatives when they run.

I REFUSE TO RUN AND HAND THIS COUNTRY OVER TO THE DEMS!!!

Then they had better look for the bigger picture and do like you are planning. We do not have to stop trying to get our officials to do the right thing, just because we pull the leaver for them.

"Let's reward the RINOs"

In the state by state races where Rinos run against Democrats, The Rino is still the best choice. It is not a matter of rewarding dung-heads like Chaffee, Hagel, Snow, etc. It is punishment for all of us if the Democratic Party controls both houses of the US Congress for the remainder of Bush's second term. Two Conservatives, Alito and Roberts are on the US Supreme Court today because Bush had the votes in the Senate. Do you want the only President of the US in the past two decades who was not afraid to conduct a War on Terror to be impeached? It is our call this November. I have been a Registered Democrat for most of my voting life. However, the Democrats in control at this point in history mean disaster for this republic. You know that I am correct. Now act on it.
