Kerry Accuses White House of Intolerance

By MIKE GLOVER, Associated Press Writer 15 minutes ago

Sen. John Kerry accused the Bush administration on Saturday of stirring up a "spirit of intolerance" to suppress dissent over the war in Iraq.

Kerry said the Bush administration is targeting opponents of the Iraq war in much the same way he was attacked for protesting failed policies in Vietnam in the 1970s.

"Dismissing dissent is not only wrong but dangerous when America's leadership is unwilling to admit mistakes, unwilling to engage in honest discussion and unwilling to hold itself accountable for the consequences of decisions made without genuine disclosure or genuine debate," said Kerry, D-Mass.

"Although no one is being jailed today for speaking out against the war in Iraq, the spirit of intolerance for dissent has risen steadily, and the habit of labeling dissenters as unpatriotic has become the common currency of the politicians currently running our country," he said.

Kerry, the Democratic nominee for president in 2004, spoke at Grinnell College. During his visit to Iowa he repeated his call for a deadline for American troops to be pulled out of Iraq by the end of the year.

"The Iraqis have shown they only respond to deadlines," he said in an interview with The Associated Press. "I think you've got to be tough here."

Kerry first drew public attention 35 years ago when, as a decorated Navy veteran, he testified to Congress in opposition to the Vietnam war. Some fellow veterans criticized him then, and his opposition to the war has been a point of controversy throughout his political career.

This is better described as the left being incredibly effective in squelching anti, anti-American criticism.

I guess the "White House" is not allowed to engage in free speech. In Hanoi Johnny's America, "intolerance" would not be tolerated.

John F'in Kerry is a g-damned traitor, he perjured himself under oath about so-called "war crimes" that were never committed by his fellow soldiers, he violated U.S. law by traveling to Paris to enter private talks with the North Vietnamese and the Viet Cong while America was at war, he received a less than honorable discharge, which was only upgraded to "honorable" under the treasonous Carter Administration, and THAT is why even to this day, Kerry will not release his military records in their entirety because his disloyalty would then become known to all.

More putting words in people's mouths, then attacking those fabricated words. The Bush Admin has not called dissenters unpatriotic.

To John "Vichy" Kerry:

Kerry, you are a WEASEL - hey, look, Benedict Arnold served too, he was even the "hero of Ticonderoga" -- did far more than you ever did, Kerry, but when he turned against his country his previous service was not some permanent absolution from judgment for what he did to betray his country.

Neither George Bush nor anyone in his administration has ever questioned Kerry's patriotism.

However, I, Miss Marple, DO question his patriotism. I think Kerry is a traitor who has not one speck of love for this ccountry.

Evangelical Outpost has a recent blog post titled: The Patriot’s Asterisk: Why We Shouldn’t be Ashamed to be Patriots One liberal commenter wrote:
Some european intellectual (I forget who, maybe Derrida?) said (paraphrase): Nationalism is the ideology of the man with nothing to say. Replace "Nationalism" with the synonym of the above discussion, and you have the fundamental critique: patriotism is at best vapid, and at worst oppressive. Your relationship with your country does not require you to keep your mouth shut because of past benefits you have received: it is a continuing relationship, in which both parties have continuing rights and responsibilities.
Wonkette linked with:
Tossing and turning over the definition of a “patriot?” Worried that the label carries morally inconsistent connotations and/or Jeff Gordon-idolizing overtones?
Considering the typical leftist's view of patriotism, it seems inconsistent to complain about being labeled "un-patriotic" - to say the least.

So ours this week will be "spirit of ignorance"... or illegitimacy... take your pick.

Ah yes... from the party of tolerance, McKinney would love that, seeing the way they jumped to her defense (unlike Patty boy, even the libs saw that). I didn't see Jefferson photo-ops either. Ooh... and Boston College Jesuits not wanting to honor Condi.

Will Kerry be the next Vanilla Ice speaking for the 'hood' when he runs then? I hope so... please run.

Okay, John Kerry, here you go. You are unpatriotic, and worse than that, you are a traitor. See, now someone actually said it.

John Kerry is repeating an old, and bogus accusation. It's a lie. One of many lies democrats keep repeating because no one in the administration calls them on it. Reporters should challenge Kerry to name the names of people in this administration who have accused someone of being unpatriotic. It has not happened.

It reminds me of how democrats get away with saying republicans starve babies, kill old folks, poison the air and water.
