Confident Democrats Lay Out Agenda Party Plans Probes Of Administration If It Wins the House

By Jonathan Weisman Washington Post Staff Writer Sunday, May 7, 2006; A01

Democratic leaders, increasingly confident they will seize control of the House in November, are laying plans for a legislative blitz during their first week in power that would raise the minimum wage, roll back parts of the Republican prescription drug law, implement homeland security measures and reinstate lapsed budget deficit controls.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (Calif.) said in an interview last week that a Democratic House would launch a series of investigations of the Bush administration, beginning with the White House's first-term energy task force and probably including the use of intelligence in the run-up to the invasion of Iraq. Pelosi denied Republican allegations that a Democratic House would move quickly to impeach President Bush. But, she said of the planned investigations, "You never know where it leads to."

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said

So in other words...they don't have much of an agenda.

Conspicuously absent from the agenda is illegal immigration....

The decisive issue of our time is being squandered by our own party at our detriment, and ignored by the opposition without cost...

Makes us look doubly pathetic...

Thanks George...

The illegal immigration issue will go down in history as one of the single most colossal political blunders in modern history...

The only upside to this is that some new blood might be brought into the national GOP if the Democrats put them back into the minority. Of course, that means that they'll have to recapture the house from a resuscitated Democrat party. Time to stop relying on the War On/In Something/SomeGodAwfulPlace and triangulation to win pyrric victories. Instead, run on a conservative agenda. One day, the Republicans will never have a chance to regain power because Pelosi/Hillary/Dean/Kennedy will have turned us into another European-style welfare state.

Well, President Bush was slow to deal with a hostile press and he did not have any sense of urgency about his falling poll numbers.

Now, with an important election months away, there is the possibility Rove may be sidelined due to an indictment by a Special Prosecutor Bush was bullied into appointing.

It's not illegal imigration, it's recolonization of the southwest by the Mexican government.

...reinstate lapsed budget deficit controls.

Riiiiiiiight. Nancy Pelosi will hire legal immigrants and Unionize her hotel and winery in St. Helena before RATS control the deficit.

SO the democrat's plan is to spend their time re-investigating stuff that happened YEARS ago. Oh, and increasing the minimum wage.

Oh, and doing "something" to the prescription drug plan -- that most seniors who have enrolled in it are saying is working well for them.

What poll are they looking at that said the three most important things to voters in 2006 are dwelling on the past, raising the minimum wage and tweaking the prescription drug program?

I thought the big issues were the war on terror, illegal immigration, and the high price of gasoline.

I'd love to have every democrat run on a platform of endless investigations and imposing a "living wage". That would make me feel much more confident about our chances in November.

Those who want to "punish the Republicans" by voting third party, staying home, or voting Dem in 2006, better read this carefully and decide, whether do they really want to responsible for all that the Dems are planning and WILL do, if they get back into power.

I would not put too much stock in polls.

I am confident that there will be Rovian bombshells regarding either:

the McCarthy leaks
WMD or spmething we don't even know yet.

Karl isn't just sitting around; he is straterigizing and is in deep thought mode. Democrats become overly confident at their own peril.

At least I hope.

Absolutely. Be careful what you say you want...you just might get it. And you better not whine about either because no one else wants to listen to you. You have already been warned.

Best we win in '06!

Whatever it takes, the Democrats must be kept on the outside looking in!

Wake up Republicans! We are counting on you to come to your senses and stand up for Conservative Principles!
