Arizona's Prop 200 Screening Out Illegal (Alien) Voters

Prop 200 Screening Out Illegal Voters

Stricter immigration laws now on the books in Arizona that require elections officials to check for proof of citizenship have uncovered thousands of new registrants who don't qualify to vote.

According to the Arizona Daily Star, state election officials credit the citizenship requirement contained in Proposition 200, the illegal-immigration initiative passed last November, for screening out the illegal voters.

In Arizona's Prima County alone, elections officials have rejected 59 percent of all applicants in the last two weeks - or 423 of the 712 new registrants.

"We rejected none during the same period last year," when six times as many people were registering because of the presidential election, said Registrar of Voters Chris Roads. "There was nothing in the law that required a rejection" last year, he explained.

Most voter registration forms rejected by Prima County since April 20, when officials started keeping track, were submitted by new voters who provided no valid proof of citizenship whatsoever, Roads said.

Despite the fact that it's illegal for non-citizens to vote, the rejections had Arizona Democrats up in arms.

Paul Eckerstrom, chairman of the Prima County Democratic Party, complained that forcing Arizona voters to prove their citizenship is "anti-American and anti-democracy."

"It's just another obstacle for voters to deal with," Eckerstrom griped. "The whole idea behind this thing is to suppress voter turnout."

He said Proposition 200's "real intent" was to make it difficult for voters - especially those inclined to vote Democratic - to cast a ballot.

I want no part of Eckerstrom's "democracy". This kind of attitude and behavior is going to lead to war.

.....This is INSANE!How can proving citizenship be " anti American"???

This is our future if we don't strengthen our party and president, and get behind them this fall, to defeat the RATs.

In Chicago, Democratic campaign worker Howie Connum expressed frustration at his inability to get many of the protestors to register to vote. "These morons think that because they are here illegally and don't speak English that they shouldn't vote," said a fuming Connum. "I tell them that their votes are a way to safe guard their rights, but they have an overblown fear of getting caught. There's a basic lack of understanding about how the system works."

That was satire. See Post 7 plus Keywords.

Stunning.

I'd be less shocked if I were run over by a bus being driven by a gopher.

thanks for the reality check on http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-bloggers/1627102/posts , anyone could have read that article, even though it is headlined as "Sim-news" and believe it all to be true. laugh, because there were some other real investigative reports that documented some of satires;

-Democrats are fishing for illegal voters

-Most weren't even aware there was a boycott on May 1st

-People appreciated the lighter traffic on May 1st

-Drug cartels didn't recognize the boycott

-Aztlan movement called to be recognized at sporting events with their anthem played along with the spangled banner

so actually these aren't that far fetched, even for the sporting event joke, the San Diego Padres did, (or maybe still do), fly the Mexican Flag next to the Stars and Stripes !!!

I have yet to see a voter reform bill that was not opposed by democrats. Any attempt to have people prove their identity when registering to vote meets with their disapproval.

The one tip off to that article being satire that I noticed was the name Howie Connum (How we con 'em).

I am not a fan of too much government intervention, but on this issue, I believe checking for proof of citizenship, prior to voting should be not only state and county mandated, but federally mandated as well. This is a no brainer!

"Why would a voter object to keeping out votes that would make his own vote less meamingful?"

C'mon, think like a Democrat - these ilegal alien votes are 'meaningful' if they mean Democrats win office.
The end justifies the means.
And Republicans are meanies for shutting down this gamed election system.

I wonder how many thousands of illegal registrations were received before Proposition 200 became law?

You really don't want to know. With recent elections so close, only a few illegal votes will change the course of history.

Who-ever wrote this article is wrong. Permanent residents ( Green card holders) can register and vote in certain elections (Usually local and state) that don't require them to be a U.S.citizen.

Proving citizenship should be required. Anyone that does not agree is illegal and they do not want anyone knowing they are criminals.

These are criminals we are talking about, why should they tell the truth? When they go and tap our reserves at the hospitals, and all the destitute reserves that are offered by this country. Do you think they would have any qualms about lying? Criminals will lie, and that is pure fact!! How many criminals do you know that will say they are innocent???? They lie and will continue to lie as long as it benefits them in some way.

Have you seen any law that the illegals have obeyed? I would bet they will all vote. Our ignorant officials will see to it....and it a few years you better learn how to speak Mexican. I say Mexican because it is not correct Spanish......The true Spanish will tell you that Mexicans speak a different Spanish that comes from the poor destitute Mexico. I resent the fact they are trying now to teach our children their language. Who cares about that language. Our language is English and anyone that wants to speak their language can go to Mexico. They have fired a lot of teachers here in Texas to hire "Spanish Speaking" teachers. How fair is that? If we don't do something, We will all be eating tamales soon.

I read today that they were flying a Mexican flag over a post office, I think it was Az. They flew our Old Glory upside down. (and under their flag) They have no respect for any of us...they only want "money" and "freebies"
I would like to say they are really not good for much except draining our resources. We have a lot of firemen that have the debris in their lungs and the illegals are able to get what those brave men cannot. What kind of men do we have in office anyway?????
