Vox Day is a novelist and Christian libertarian. He is a member of the SFWA, Mensa and the Southern Baptist church, and has been down with Madden since 1992. Visit his Web log, Vox Popoli, for daily commentary and responses to reader email. Isn't Christian libertarian an oxymoron?
And what is down with Madden mean?

"It is ironic that such "conservatives" argue that illegal immigration is good for the American economy, given that they are theoretically adherents of Adam Smith's capitalism, which states, among many other things, the Law that as supply goes up, that price must go down, given constant demand. One would have to be a serious sophist indeed to miss the application of that law to labor prices, which have declined more than 16 percent while 30 million legal and illegal immigrants have entered the country and provided that price-suppressing supply of which Mr. Smith speaks so highly. " That dispels the theory they are good for the economy.

Mr. Day's writing seems to verge on the incoherent; but, I don't think that "Christian libertarian" is an oxymoron. A belief in small government, individual liberty, and personal responsibility does not conflict with Christianity -- an individual is simply free to chose which religion (if any) to follow. (As in both the U.S. and Canadian Constitutions.)

This pretty much sums up the way I feel as well.
However, I still think Iraq is really more about bringing terrorists to a centralized area to fight them there rather than here. This Democracy stuff is just for public consumption. Therefore I feel our presence in Iraq is justified.

I disagree, with the amount of tax dollars going to fund the Iraqi Government, the civil engineering projects like highway construction, etc., etc. The same is happening in Afghanistan. As for fighting them there...my God, mosques are off limits, and there are enough restrictions on returning firing and so forth that it seems policy makers are little interested in our troops fighting the enemy.

This guy is practising an old con trick of mixing contradictory adjectives with conventional descriptive terms and creating an upside down false argument both for and against various causes.
His technique works best on gullible uninformed types who are not quick to notice that he is performing verbal "flim flam".
Re-read his stuff and you should detect his frequent "switch-a-roos". He's a weasel.

I see a lot of truth in what he says.
What I've learned at FR is that most everyone wants to claim to be conservative, with their own personal definitions, exceptions, and exemptions and it's evident on this thread.
