well have fun getting your guy 1% or so...
I just hope it doesn't cost an election and I hope you would RATHER try to work to get a conservative elected within the established party.
It can happen.
It's working out in Ohio right now in the Governor's race.
Nah you know what, I don't care, do what you want. You have your vote, you will do what you want with it. But I can't WAIT to hear the screaming the day after the elections if current trends hold.

I hope you would RATHER try to work to get a conservative elected within the established party. It's certainly possible to do both. In fact, the threat of a third party defection can provide an incentive to choose conservatives in the primaries.

Oh yeah. That approach worked real well with Pat Toomey...GWB and Rick Santorum saved Arlen Specter from certain defeat in the primary.
If the party stayed out of primaries, allowed primaries to occur, then maybe I could agree with you. But in PA, the party doesn't allow real primaries to occur. They quashed the Specter-Toomey primary, they quashed Rick Santorum's challenger by challenging his petitions, and they anointed Lynn Swann as the gubernatorial candidate before any substantive debate of the issues had occurred. We can't advance conservatism within the party. The party machine simply won't allow it. Game over.
