I don't see how the raping of German women could be seen as payback for a military invasion. It is absolutely disgusting. It was not the German women who invaded Russia. Most of the Germans were not Nazis, and did not truly support them, only what they had to do out of fear. The Wehrmacht swore allegiance to Germany, not to Hitler like the SS.

Anyway, two wrongs do not make a right. Yes, undoubtedly there were many Germans who raped, but not on the same scale of the Russians. That does not give the Russians any right to do the same to innocent people. By your logic, if you attacked me, it would be ok then, if I raped your daughter. No one has that coming to them, no matter what they did. Punishment should be given to the perpetrators, not their acquaintances.

Well, this is the true nature of almost any war not prosecuted by the United States or Britain. We always tend to forget just how "nice" we are compared to most other cultures, who use the prospect of such spoils of war to motivate their armies of brutalized, thuggish conscripts.

They are many today of the younger generations that fail to study history like the items discussed here on this thread abut WWII, The Civil War, etc. Too bad too, because at this very moment in the world, such atrocities of mass rape and murder (The Sudan in particular) is still being committed.

I think that for any of those that have experienced combat, the ravages of war, etc., here on FR, know first-hand why men sometimes get out of hand after the continuous stress exposure from the horror. Therefore, the greed of a nation(s)s ruler(s, usually civilian, is generally the prime catalyst that allow the darkness of mankind to usher out in mass because war has been started.

With that said, while our brave men and women fight the WOT and keep things running for the military all over the world, it is imperative that as a nation, and a people, that such behavior will never ever be tolerated by within our forces. It is a must that we do not succumb to the nature of our enemies so our convictions to try and do what is right from a global aspect is the cement for the foundation for the morale of our troops and the support for them from their fellow countrymen.

I remember reading a book about the last days of Hitler several years ago. I have read more than of few, so I am not sure which one. I thnk it was "The Bunker."

Anyway, Hitler and his staff (what was left of it) were trying to decide what to do with the women in the bunker. They wanted them to escape, and decided the best route was to find out where the British were and send them in that direction. They assumed the Brits would act "like gentlemen."
