Tancredo Rips Government’s Spying of Minutemen

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressmen Tom Tancredo (R-CO) decried a recently-disclosed U.S. Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) practice of tipping off the Mexican military to the location of Minutemen volunteers. According to a story in this morning’s Inland Daily Bulletin, CBP notifies the Mexican government of when and where the Minutemen are planning to monitor the border and if violence is used by the Minutemen against illegal aliens. There has not been one verified instance of Minutemen volunteers using violence against illegal aliens.

“The Mexican military doesn’t exactly have a ‘good government’ reputation. The Border Patrol has documented more than two hundred incursions into the U.S by the Mexican military, and Texas sheriffs even apprehended Mexican government vehicles that were used to ferry drug runners across the border. By tipping off Mexico’s military to the Minutemen’s location, the U.S. government is asking for trouble,” said Tancredo.

“Heavily-armed military officials stationed only yards from civilians are at least intimidating. I can only surmise that the Border Patrol bureaucrats’ spying is meant to have a chilling effect on the Minutemen’s recruitment of more volunteers,” said Tancredo.

“The Minutemen haven’t been accused of breaking the law. Quite the contrary—they have gone out of their way to aid law enforcement and ensure the safety of our border. The U.S. government has no grounds upon which to stifle the Minutemen’s constitutional right to organize,” Tancredo concluded. “I want to know the legal basis for CBP informing a foreign government of the activities of private citizens who are obeying the law.”

Props to the small mom-and-pop newspaper in Ontario, California which found this information

The Daily Bulletin archives their border stories here:

Sara A. Carter writes a lot of the articles. She can be reached by phone at (909) 483-8552. I haven't been able to locate an e-mail address for her. (Their website has been too busy to use for most of today.)

If I can hide in a gulley with my cache of firearms, I'll be happy. When the gov't starts going door to door to confiscate our guns... that'll be the last day of my life. I can't bear to live in a country where the people have no power. As it is, we don't have power anymore.

It's all about how much money one has in the bank. I'd run for office if I had the cash, but the days of grassroots campaigning are dead.

It just goes to show how wonderful holding political office must really be.

Yes, they live like royalty. Literally. They have drivers, etc....they do nothing for themselves. Life is grand for them and they get paid for the rest of their lives. At some point, I hope Americans will be fed up enough to put a stop to that.

I don't even think it's just about how much money you have. It's about your lineage also. If you are one of the blue bloods, educated in the right places, socialized with the right faces.

I've been watching him again on a regular basis -- he is getting a lot of flak by left wing radio personnel/reporters and on the other hand people like us have taken to standing outside CNN Studios and waving American flags and Pro Lou signs...

Tells you a whole lot -- they are not doing that at FOX and in fact, Rupert is throwing a party for Hillary -- who he believes will be the next President (does that mean Fox will be the new CNN for this Clinton's Presidential aspirations)... FOX is carrying water for the administration on the borders.

This is one of those memorable moments, a bad one at that. If this story is true, we have reached the Rubicon. And there are a lot of wet ankles out there.

Who'll draft Articles of Secession first, GA or VA. My money is on GA.

I'm still dumbfounded by it.

We all are, and Bush owes the American people an explanation, if this story proves true. Any bets that this gets the big "cover up" treatment?

Hey, George Bush told us to 'Be Vigilant' after 9/11... So, maybe him calling the Minutemen 'Vigilantes', maybe they are really doing what the President asked them to do....

Ok, so I'm reaching here...

“I want to know the legal basis for CBP informing a foreign government of the activities of private citizens who are obeying the law.”

So do I.

I am 100% personal responsibility. I rely on myself and only myself! My problem is when they come looking to confiscate my firearms. What then? I can't defend myself with force. I refuse to cower! I'll be dead within a year of the confiscations.

If this is true, I feel really clueless about the overall objective of W and crew any more. Is he truly a NWO continentalist who's abandoned conservatives and sovereignty, does he want the border issue to be ignited by citizens so he can throw his hands up in the air and say to el Presidente "Hey, what am I supposed to do?", is there some deep and secretive plan I just can't fathom, is he just rudderless, or is America done and gone and I just don't realize it yet? Is it time to choose between the red or blue pill now?

I heard about that on Michael Savage's radio show last night. I still don't know what to say.

I don't want secession, but Georgia did pass the toughest law against illegals in the nation, thank God. I love my state.

Please Cong. tancredo, people sitting along the border in lawnchairs is not a state secret.

Why don't you Cong. tancredo do something useful such as trying to dismantle the Dept. of education.

Oops I forgot Cong. tancredo worked there for 12 years, why would he put his comrades out of work.
