Brother Jeb would make 'great' US president: Bush May 10 12:05 PM US/Eastern

President George W. Bush praised his brother, Florida governor Jeb Bush, as an "excellent" leader who would make a "great president" of the United States, according to news accounts.

"I think Jeb would be a great president. But it's up to Jeb to make a decision to run," Bush told reporters at a roundtable interview here with several Florida newspapers.

"I would like to see Jeb run at some point in time, but I have no idea if that's his intention or not," said the president, in comments published in the St Petersburg Times, and other dailies.

Bush said he had "pushed him fairly hard about what he intends to do," but said Jeb would not tip his hand.

"I have no idea what he's going to do. I've asked him that question myself. I truly don't think he knows," Bush said.

He added that his brother's "political future is very bright - if he chooses to have a political future. But he is an independent-minded guy. His priority is his family."

The Bush family is one of the pre-eminent US political dynasties, with the Bush brothers' father, George Herbert Walker Bush, having also served a stint as US president.

"I think that we've learned our lesson with the Bush family."

Amen.

The added bonus of seeing the Dowds and the Huffingtons and the Finemans and the Rathers of this world become absolutely UNGLUED

I think it's all an act.

I'm for Allen!! He's as close to Reagan and Goldwater as we'll get.

Allen seems to be the best bet right now. But I would vote for Jeb too. However, I think the country is suffering from Bush fatigue and would balk at another Bush in the office so soon.

Jeb has been a good governor, I'd vote for him as President.

Look, the bottom line for me is:
NO MORE DEMOCRATS!

I'll hold my nose and vote for McLame or Hagel before I let a 'rat (and I used to be one!) get into the Oval Office!!

I was all for Jeb running, but after watching W putter out like his pop, I think we've had enough Bushes in the White House for a while. I thank George for his service, and he did do some admirable things, but next time we need a real conservative. Of those believed to possibly be running, the only one who interests me is Newt.

Just what we need, more Bushes, Clintons, Doles, Kennedys, and Medicis.

Yeah, he's the best president ever with 31% poll number.
He's losing conservatives by the thousands every day.
He may be a good and decent man, but his policies are driving conservatives out. And that is a fact.

BY 2007 so called "conservatives" on FR will be denouncing Allen as a RINO.

As a former rat myself I agree 100%. I'd prefer Allen, Rice, or Santorum, but if McCain wins the nomination I will vote for him. I can't believe so many Freepers have forgotten what things were like under Clinton already.

Ah, if you've seen one traitor to the nation, you've seen them all.

I've had enough of the Bush's and their globalist, elitest clap-trap.

I don't think any current Republican is worth voting for. ...Third party, here I come. And I have to say I don't sh*t if it puts Hillary in the WH. These people just trade the job back and forth anyway. The right and left arm of the same ugly-a$$ gorilla.

Sorry. I will not vote for McCain. If he's the nominee (and I don't think he will be), I'll leave that office blank or vote Libertarian or Contstitution. If he gets into office, it will be without my help.

Fortunately, I don't think he will be the nominee either.
