Gore Can 'Buy' 2008 Election (He Owns a ton of Google Stock)
NewsMax ^ | 5/11/06

Posted on 05/11/2006 9:06:28 AM PDT by areafiftyone

Al Gore has such a fortune in Google stock that he could easily fund his own campaign for the White House, Democratic insiders say.

Gore became a senior adviser to the Internet search engine back in February 2001, and is a close friend of CEO Dr. Eric Schmidt. Google shares went public in 2004, and the stock has soared from $85 a share to more than $400. Co-founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page are worth an estimated $11 billion each.

Gore "owns a ton of Google and he's made enough money that he could wait until a month before and just drop $50 million in to launch a [2008] race," a well-placed Democrat told Deborah Orin of the New York Post.

"He's got way more than enough money to buy this thing at any point in the process." Gore spokesman Mike Feldman said the former vice president "is not running for president" and is focused on global warming.

Gore stars in a documentary about global warming, "An Inconvenient Truth,” which premieres next week.

But a Gore friend told Orin: "He's doing what he should do if he wants to run. When you run and get the most votes as he did in 2000, I don't think psychologically you ever move on.”

Has John Kerry asked to marry him yet? No wonder he was pushing the gay marriage thing so hard. ;)

Normal people get on with their lives. Obsessed people who have nothing better to do than to campaign and criticize others don't.

My first thought was, maybe he will donate a little more to charity than a few hundred dollars this year.

If he does, expect the MSM to treat him like a god.

Cheney donated practially 2/3 of his income to charity last year, and all the MSM could write was that he had gotten a big tax refund.

Democrat Culture Of Corruption Alert.

So, Al Gore was VP for 8 years, and within a month of leaving office was a senior advisor to a major company which many of the policies of the administration helped.

What did Al Gore do to gain this position with it's lucrative stock options?

I think you guys are miscalulating here. Lets examine this scenario. Gore says nothing until 30 days before the first primary...keeps his mouth shut...lets Hillary play her games against the limited Demos in the fight. Gore sells his stock...just $50 million puts him in an immedate fight against Hillary in Iowa and the first five primaries. Al has nothing to lose. His entire agenda is his easy going personality...which is miles above Hillary. The folks out in Iowa will love his speeches...and he beats Hillary hands down...with 40 percent of the vote.

Al goes into New Hampshire...and plays the environmental game...and easily wins there.

Suddenly, Hillary is in deep water, and Bill will have to pull out all his old speeches and counter Al...but it might be too late at this point. And besides...the national enquirer is sitting on numerous stories involving Bill and his various ladies. So Hillary starts to slip badly at this point.

Al has half his profit from the Google stock left...and coasts to a win now. The Demo's have a fresh face (as good as it gets in this situation)....and a guy who can outmaneuver McCain easily in debates. With the Google stock profits...his choice of Obama as VP...and people tired of the war at that point....Al coasts into victory into 2008. Its a scenario that is very possible...if the Google stock thing is true.

And if he sells it for a huge profit, he'll pay the good higher Democratic capital gains rate rather the eeeeevil lower Republican capital gains rate, right? It's for the children.

Al, Al, please quit laughing at my suggestion.

We all know that W could have pushed Texas for another 1,000,000 votes if popular votes was his goal but he did not waste time down there. The definition of a sore loser is one who, when losing, bemoans the rules that cost him the contest rather than give credit to the winner or criticize his own culpability.

Hahahahahaha wait until they figure out that Gore now qualifies as one of those over-compensated robber barrons. What did he do for his stock? Was it a friend dispensing largess or buying future influence? A consulting arrangement in order to avoid the gift tax? Is AlGore avoiding payment of his "fair share?"

Reality check: Al Gore may have been an advisor to Google and he may have been paid with Google stock, but insiders in a major corporation usually hold stock options, not actually shares and the shares they hold are subject to lockups.

Sergey Brin, Google's cofounder, only owns $31M of tradable stock.

That's the portion of his billions that have outlasted all the restrictions and are now saleable on the open market. It will likely be a decade before Brin is able to trade his whole stake free and clear.

If Brin only has $31M in tradable stock today, I doubt Al Gore has 50M.

Shhhh you're not supposed to ask questions like that he's a demo/socialist therefore all of his riches are justly deserved. He's not in the pocket of "Big Internet" he's just providing them with the friendly advise only the inventor of the Internet possible could.

Anyway just as Pelosi, Reid or Howard Scream only Republicans are corrupt, demo's are the party of good government.

And most of it filthy, obscene corporate money at that. Cheney's was ill-gotten lucre from the evil oil and gas industry, as opposed to Gore's hard-earned Google stock profits, don't you know.

I'm waiting for the bottom to drop out of Google stock, and listen to the wailing. It will be sweet.
