Enforce the laws. Stop the flow. Protect our borders. I certainly agree with that, but not necessarily in that order. I'd like to see our government secure the border first.
Then, knowing that no new common criminals or terrorists are going to enter the country that way, I'd step up workplace enforcement efforts in order to dry up the demand for cheap (illegal) labor.
It makes absolutely no sense for us to fine employers if we aren't going to first shut down the flood of illegals crossing our southern border. And as for my emphasis on the southern border, see Rep. J.D. Hayworth's book.
