..."He'll talk...". Yep, he'll talk and talk and talk and nothing will get done. Just like the last five years...

But he seems so sincere. He wouldn't lie, would he? (He'll fool alot of folks monday night)

"It's obvious that nothing rational will satisfy you, and when you succeed with your tantrum on the floor, the democrats will be in power and you fools will get what you deserve slapped up side your irrational heads.",

Bush wants amnesty. The Democrats want amnesty. What's the difference between them???

I agree with you. I can agree on some sort of "Guest Worker" program, but not one of these illegals should ever be given a path to USA citizenship. After these ungrateful morons marched on the "communist" labor day "May 1st" I have no use for any of them. After a short period of guest workership send them all back from where they came. If GW Bush has any brains at all, he will abandon his quest for these people getting citizenship down the road, Let them go back to their home country and get in line like everyone else. If not, he and the Republican Party are deader than a door nail. End of story!!!

No Mr. President. Most of us regard you highly. On this matter it is too little, too temporary, too exploitable, and obviously too politically calculated to do your party any good now.

Your calculated disregard will cost Rhinos and real R's alike a greatly diminished role in respect for America, and respect for your party.

The only way these criminals should be allowed to "get in line for U.S. citizenship" is to GO THE HELL BACK HOME, get in line at the US Embassy IN THEIR OWN COUNTRY, and not be allowed back into the US until their turn comes around. ANY other approach that "allows a path to citizenship" while still remaining in the USA is simply AMNESTY.

Few are aware of it, but there has already been one amnesty 245(i)since 1986, and that was in 2000 until April 2001. W attempted to get that amnesty extended, but Congress would not go along. As it is 4 million people attempting to enter the US LEGALLY are having to wait in line 8 to 25 years to come here. I simply cannot believe our President and Congress have no shame.

10,000 threads on this site filled with people complaining that Bush won't respond to their complaints. Now he is going to respond and we are treated to countless posts complaining about what he will or won't say. I guess no one can ever accuse single issue voters of being multidimensional.

I'll wait to hear what the President has to say. THEN I'll have an opinion.

You people are disgusting. It's obvious that nothing rational will satisfy you, and when you succeed with your tantrum on the floor, the democrats will be in power and you fools will get what you deserve...

I guess we are fools for having fallen for this guy in the first place. Look, the Republicans don't seem to be able to govern...they don't know what to do when they have power. As the opposition party they might at least put on a show of fighting the Democrats.

Exactly. President Bush has no plan for making the 12 mil or more here leave. He is just trying to mollify, appease, spin so that they can all stay.
I think his "comprehensive reform" speech is just gonna make people angier. I know it will me.

Correction, those 4 million waiting to enter legally are having to wait in line outside of the country for 8 to 25 years even longer due to the 245(i) amnesty.

Would you believe the President if he said he was going to get tough on illegal immigration? He's as stubborn as they get.

I wonder if the Democrats will have a rebuttle to this speech by Bush? If so, I wish they would let Lou Dobbs do it.

Are you really surprised? And yes they WANT the Democrats back in power. That is the entire objective. This place needs an enema.

Stem the alien tide with amnesty. What a concept.

Bush thinks he won the hispanic vote in Texas, so he must be smarter than everyone and understand it better than everyone. He expects to be loved for it and to win votes in the center. He thinks he is crafting a statesmanlike compromise by giving Mexicans what they want, and also giving the rest of the country beefed up border enforcement. He is actually giving the Democrats back their lost majority status, but he'll never see it that way.

Every immigrant is a future free market Republican, to Bush's idealistic, rosy, permanent optimism way of thinking. And anybody who tells him different just seems like a gloomy gus, a sourpus, mean, less generous than he is. Since he means well, he must be right. If the world can't see it, so much the worse for the world.

That is a great strength facing the enemy abroad, but can mean pigheaded stupidity when he is wrong on a domestic issue. To his credit, he does occasionally reverse - Miers, ports - but even in those cases he is typically the last to give. The other party involved sees they are hurting him and backs out. Since here the other party involved are all Democrats, they aren't going to this time.
