NOW yer talkin'! That provision was gutted by Ted the swimmer in 1986 or this current invasion wouldn't be happening. I want the Northern border closed too. THEN, two tiered photo ID program with tracking numbers, and no voting until one becomes a citizen. A guest worker program with an absolute limit and non-renewable, and a pathway to citizenship that takes years, starts at the back end of the line and rewards those already trying legally by improving the system so they benefit first. Employers now using illegals are breaking existing laws and cheating legitimate taxpayers! Enforcing our current laws will go a long way to 'dissolve' the job market so a significant number trun around and go home and if they don't register in one tier or the other, they get picked up when found and taken to Southern Mexico and released. BUT everything starts with closing down the invasion and I believe that's precisely waht this president intends to do, NOW. Here's a hint: the mouthings by democrats are a strong indication that they see the handwriting on the wall and don't want to be on the wrong side of the actions coming. Hatellary Rodhamster wants the troops armed on the border! Can you imagine that, a bleeding heartt lieberal calling for hot patrols?!!!

what bush is doing is pure bs.

the best analogy is the 3/5 compromise that said blacks were 3/5ths of a human being.

all bush is doing is setting the country up for civil war.

But before that happens he is murdering the republican party.

The man should be tarred and feathered.

Lets see: amnesty been there done that. 1986 simpson mizzoli . The mexicans took that a sign of surrender and came over the border in the millions. There is no reason to think that they won't do the same thing with the current legalization process. Only next time even more people will come over the border.

How will the republicans take this.

We have a perfect example in 1992 and 1996. Remember the giant sucking sound? The essential issue of those campaigns was mexico. that issue chopped off enough republicans to let the clintons in. This time the damage will be more permanent.

So first Bush II murders the republicans and then he murders the republic.

This is not a good deal.

He will not mention the word "amnesty." Instead, you will hear him couch that term in the word "guest worker' or some other nice sounding rhetoric.

You're an agitprop, plain and simple. You want the disaster you court and will never be satisfied until democraps are in control again. Then we'll hear your slick intonations of how reasonable the democrat plans for the 'immigration problem' are, if we hear from you at all once your socialists have control.

Enforcing the law is rational. The idea that amnesty is the only rational course of action has no justification. The country rejects it, clearly and unequivocally. It has been tried before and it failed to operate as intended. The president is simply wrong on that single point, and the country or people here not being willing to go along with him on it, is not irrational nor a tantrum nor disgusting.

He proposes it, we reject it. He can withdraw the proposal tomorrow, it would help him and not harm the country in the slightest. If instead he insists on ramming it down our throats with the support of the opposite party, then he has simply stopped representing us and decided to represent them instead. That has consequences. He is a grown up and he knows them. He can decide whether it is worth it or not.

In other news, Republican voters have decided to give the party something they call a "virtual vote". It looks sorta like they are voting, but it's done with the laser pointer to the TV which turns to the Comedy channel. This new way of voting is also called "staying home in droves", or "sitting on their hands" while the Party goes down in flames.

Pretty soon, Jorge will wish his approval was as high as the twenties.

"The country rejects it ..." Polling data indicate you're wrong. So why do you keep pushing that extremism? Because you want a crisis to get worse and then you can smuggly say, "I told that Bush was no good". You get into the disgusting list also.

How do you know? His speech is days away. This article is based on a MSM "imaginary friend."

Shouldn't we wait to see what Bush has to say? Sheesh!

No virtual fence/wall.

Build a real obstacle and add electronic monitoring to that. What happens in a fog or heavy rain situation?

There's no substitute for a physical border (or cubic inches - ;-) ).

That is a great strength facing the enemy abroad, but can mean pigheaded stupidity when he is wrong on a domestic issue. To his credit, he does occasionally reverse - Miers, ports - but even in those cases he is typically the last to give. The other party involved sees they are hurting him and backs out. Since here the other party involved are all Democrats, they aren't going to this time

I agree. Bush is wrong on this issue and the party leaders won't tell him off. He is not a team player. Who will tell the Emperor that he has no clothes?

He should have learned from his father's no new taxes, but instead he is going to create another Ross Perot. This time the third party may pick up the pieces where the GOP failed. The elephant is rapidly becoming an endangered species.

[ I guess no one can ever accuse single issue voters of being multidimensional. ]

True; Bush is multi-dimensionally BAD for the republican party.. You would think many would be angry about a whole range of issues bogarded by Bush.. Like Sandy Burgular.. supporting Spectre over Toomey.. and other issues.. The Drug Entitlement for another.. SHOW ME.. George just show me..

He proposes it, we reject it.

Who is "we." No one knows what the rest of the country will think.
I don't even know what I'll think. I haven't heard his speech yet.

"Mollify gullible conservatives with temporary measures and tough talk, while providing permanent amnesty to 12 million."

Just the "Faith in Bush Crowd"...I hope.

Such a phony plan. Offer a temporary "solution." No permanent hires of border patrol, NG can be moved quickly.

I've got to hand it to Rove. He made a plan that sounds "tough" to the gullible, calls to patriotism with the National Guard, and is perfectly removable at a moments notice. The Bushbots are so relieved they don't see Bush is bargaining with them - they get a false sense of security, he gets to deflate their wages in return.

Rove's Chamber of Commerce buddies will stay his friends, he'll get that big buck payback after 2008.

Let me tell you straight up that I don't approve of any amnesty for illegals that are here. No amnesty for them either. If Pres. Bush gives mentions amnesty in his Monday evening speech I will not be happy with him. If he hasn't a definite plan for controlling the border I will be even more unhappy. I blame Pres. Bush for this. Why is he pushing the illegal immigration issue in an election year?
All that being said, I Will be voting in Nov. and I won't be voting to make things even worse by voting for any Democrat. I've never said I would not be voting, would vote for a third party or for A Democrat so don't tell me I can't be unhappy about Pres. Bush's stand on the illegal problem.

"Are you really surprised? And yes they WANT the Democrats back in power. That is the entire objective. This place needs an enema."

What posters like you don't want to come to grips with is that, because of sellout RINO's, the Democrats ARE in power.
Do you really believe Frist yields more power than Reid?
