If you check the news wires and other DNC mouthpieces like Chris Mathews and Zsa Zsa Huffington's site, you will see variations on this "scoop" from the propaganda outlet that hilariously calls itself Truthout [excerpted]:
Karl Rove Indicted on Charges of Perjury, Lying to Investigators
By Jason Leopold
t r u t h o u t | ReportSaturday 13 May 2006
Special Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald spent more than half a day Friday at the offices of Patton Boggs, the law firm representing Karl Rove.
During the course of that meeting, Fitzgerald served attorneys for former Deputy White House Chief of Staff Karl Rove with an indictment charging the embattled White House official with perjury and lying to investigators related to his role in the CIA leak case, and instructed one of the attorneys to tell Rove that he has 24 hours to get his affairs in order, high level sources with direct knowledge of the meeting said Saturday morning.
Robert Luskin, Rove's attorney, did not return a call for comment. Sources said Fitzgerald was in Washington, DC, Friday and met with Luskin for about 15 hours to go over the charges against Rove, which include perjury and lying to investigators about how and when Rove discovered that Valerie Plame Wilson was a covert CIA operative and whether he shared that information with reporters, sources with direct knowledge of the meeting said.
It was still unknown Saturday whether Fitzgerald charged Rove with a more serious obstruction of justice charge. Sources close to the case said Friday that it appeared very likely that an obstruction charge against Rove would be included with charges of perjury and lying to investigators.
An announcement by Fitzgerald is expected to come this week, sources close to the case said. However, the day and time is unknown. Randall Samborn, a spokesman for the special prosecutor was unavailable for comment. In the past, Samborn said he could not comment on the case.
The grand jury hearing evidence in the Plame Wilson case met Friday on other matters while Fitzgerald spent the entire day at Luskin's office. The meeting was a closely guarded secret and seems to have taken place without the knowledge of the media.
As TruthOut reported Friday evening, Rove told President Bush and Chief of Staff Joshua Bolten, as well as a few other high level administration officials, that he will be indicted in the CIA leak case and will
immediately resign his White House job when the special counsel publicly announces the charges against him, according to sources...
Before anyone starts popping the cork on the champagne, it should be remembered that the author of this piece has been previously exposed as a notorious fantasist. (You can read Leopold's own attempts to spin the collapse of his journalistic credibility here.)
Leopold is also a confessed liar, drug-addled lunatic and criminal, at least according to this write-up in Wikipedia:
Mr. Leopold had written a book entitled Off the Record. The book’s release was permanently cancelled, however, following legal threats from one of the subjects of the book. In that book, Mr. Leopold planned to reveal many secrets of his life as a journalist such as a prior drug addiction, bouts with mental illness and suicide attempts, breaking journalistic rules, and lying to employers about a criminal conviction.
In other words, Mr. Leopold is a perfect example of Truthout’s journalistic standards.
But it's hard to see what the New York Times has against him.
Some people want to have Fitzmas all year around.
What you expect from a site that used to have William Rivers Pitt as it's managing editor?
This is no different than the garbage on CNN, etc... The Left doesn't report news. It reports its wishful thinking about newsworthy events.
Bump!
24 hours to get his affairs in order ????
Ummmm .. doesn't one have a trial before one is sentence??
Seems someone is jumping the gun on this one
Yes, that's the ordeal that I linked to where Leopold says he was shafted by the NYT (and Salon).
The guy is a nutjob, no doubt.
But what I love is that all he (or anyone on the fringe) has to do is just keep guessing about this stuff, and if one of his guesses pans out he is made as the first to report, blah, blah, blah...
Nobody remembers all the other false reports he made previously. If you Google his name, you'll see his priors.
is the "his" Leopold's mental disorder/drug addicition or the guy that was going to sue him???
Leopold is simply trying to jump to the front of the Rove/Indictment parade. MSNBC and all the other hard left media have been salivating over this since Monday. I wouldn't be surprised if it happens but I doubt Leopold has any new info.
Karl Rove's going to jail! Karl Rove's going to jail!
I am reporting from sources close to Justice Stevens that he in fact died on Wednesday but is being propped up and moved under the control of puppeteers who worked on the Muppet Show in the 1980's.
Stevens has designated the puppeteers to fake his being alive until after Democrats can regain the Senate. This is to avoid another Roberts or Alito from taking his seat on the Court.
The last time Rove testified (last week), his attorneys said that Fitzgerald said Rove was not a target.
So I highly doubt that this story is true.
But the media wants it to be true so badly, they will run for it as long as they can.
(See my tagline)
;)
I tried to post this before, but I couldn't get it to take. I suppose it's possible, but Leopold's credibility is crap, and any resemblance his reports have to reality is purely coincidental.
The crickets are chirping.
Hell, face it, he may be indicted for NOT! lying!!
Last I heard, Howard Dean already ordered the incarceration of Rove at hard labor for the crime of "opposing Democrats." Houston needs roads, and Rove's chain gang buids 'em.
It was still unknown Saturday whether Fitzgerald charged Rove with a more serious obstruction of justice charge. Sources close to the case said Friday that it appeared very likely that an obstruction charge against Rove would be included with charges of perjury and lying to investigators.
So sources in the meeting know he was indicted on two counts but are unaware of the last one.
You would think that 'sources with direct knowledge of the meeting' would know all the indictments rather than not know.
The stench of fakery is sky high.
