Immigration debate spurs hypocrisy [in Texas Valle]
The Monitor Letters to the Editor ^ | May 14, 2006 | Eliot Jackson

Posted on 05/14/2006 5:22:32 AM PDT by SwinneySwitch

To the editor:

Immigration is such a hot topic these days and there are many differing opinions. I find that people not living along the U.S.-Mexico border have vastly differing ideas of how we actually live along the borders.

The one thing that stands out most is how, when it’s convenient, our Hispanics all of a sudden see themselves as other than American citizens.

That’s appalling! An article in The Monitor on April 25 quoted a WWII veteran as saying, “We fought in YOUR wars.” Excuse me? If you were not an American, you could not have fought in “our” wars.

For the record, when you come to this country and truly seek a better life, this is what you will find. Nobody promises it to be perfect.

It seems perfectly OK to come here, take our money, our jobs, our handouts, our free education, you attend our colleges and pay our taxes — Oh! Suddenly, you’re Mexican.

I, too, come from an immigrant family. My great grandparents came here to seek a better life. They worked hard, they didn’t find a better life, they made it a better life.

My suggestion is to decide which country you would die for, and stay there. If you spend our American dollars, collect our American food stamps, go to our American colleges, live on our American soil — guess what that makes you.

According to hundreds of thousands, that makes you Mexican. Why are American citizens waiving Mexican flags?

Our forefathers never intended our government to do some of the things it has done, but they certainly intended it to be the land of the free.

Anyone who isn’t willing to die for America, pay its taxes, abide by its laws — I wish you well on your journey back home, because this isn’t your home.

Eliot Jackson, McAllen

And a related Letter the same day.

Chicanos must rise again for their raza

To the editor:

To all the protests, to all the mention of raza — I hope and pray to God that all prior protests were a success. It has been a moment to stand up and be Chicano. I could not do it, I work full time and go to STC full time. Because I work so much or I’m cansado (tired), I did not have the ability to miss school due to prior absences. I am a manager, so I have to be an example. And because I was doing research for a term paper, I couldn’t protest. Pero mi corazón para mi raza — mi amor está con la familia, la familia Chicano. There are reasons for uprisings, there are reasons for rebellion. Chicanos must rise again for their raza. Do not be lazy, do not be complacent, do not feel you have your own little place on earth, because the rest of the family is struggling. Remember, you are part of the raza — more than 85 percent, man. That, to me, sounds like a majority.

When it is time to stand up to the man, to stand up and be mexicano, but much more important to be mestizo, a mixture of all, pero latino — mexicano, puerto riqueño, argentino, lo que sea. We are Americans — latinos, Hispanic,— we’re Chicanos, siempre y forever.

Stand up for what you believe in, pero mejor se ponen en pie de chicano.

Prefiero murir de pie, de murir de rodillas … Emiliano Zapata.

Take a stand, Rio Grande Valle, do something for our people. That means all of us. Help a cause. We will be listened to. We dominate the demographics. We have a voice.

Roberto Flores, McAllen

The illegal aliens have absolutely no intention to show any loyalty toward this great Nation...ever!

They proved that lately over and over. They are here with their hand out and are the gimmee crowd that's it they will NOT assimilate, they want amnesty for all that it can give them and the millions more they can drag in here to get the freebies.

Reynosa, Mexico is only 9 miles away with a college there also. I wonder why this dude is going to an American college?

McAllen, Texas would not survive if the government stopped pumping billions into it annually.

Since 1848 Mexicans have resented the United States. During World War I Mexico allowed German Spies to operate freely in Mexico to spy on the U.S. During World War II Mexico allowed the Axis powers to spy on the U.S. from Mexico. During the Cold War Mexico allowed spies hostile to the U.S. to operate freely. The attack on the Twin Towers in 2001 was cheered and applauded all across Mexico.

Is that what you read?

I have been covering, ( Or, as Seamole calls it...-backhoe's pseudoblog--... ) psuedo-blogging, for years, a couple of the elements in WWIV ( III being the Cold War ), in which we find ourselves engaged.

The first element?

Islam, a Religion of Peace®? ( links, blogs, quips, quotes, aggravating pictures ) is located here- click the Pic, and scroll backwards:

The other, somewhat interlocking element is this one:

"Thunder on the Border," click the picture:

What is happening under the radar is that the alien lobby, certain elements of radical Islam, and some on the Left share common goals, tactics, and exploitations of our system and society.

See "ANSWER" in the poster?

Work backwards on my links to see all the shady left-wing and terrorist-enabling organizations backing this nonsense.

There was a British intell report just a few days ago that linked al qeada to latin American gangs. Given the corruption rampant in Mexico, south and central America, the AQ connection is disturbing to say the least.

Yes- you have to scroll back to find them among my links, but for example:

Information on Certain Illegal Aliens Arrested in the United States

Hizballah's Presence in the United States

Penraker asks the question: if war breaks out between Iran and the United States, how effectively could Iran launch attacks inside America? There’s more, and none of it is good. Read the whole thing...

The answer is not comforting. Hezbollah’s Presence in the United States.  Richard Armitage once had this to say about Hezbollah:

Hezbollah may be the A-team of terrorists and maybe al-Qaida is actually the B-team.

And in yet another article:

Surprise, surprise:

A research report issued by the Library of Congress Federal Research Division, Organized Crime and Terrorist Activity in Mexico, 1999-2002, quotes (p. 43) Mexican former national security advisor and ambassador the United Nations, Adolfo Aguilar Zinser, as saying that “Spanish and Islamic terrorist groups are using Mexico as a refuge.”   link: 35 comments "What part of "Death to America" are our leaders having trouble with? Sure, Nasrallah couches it in the usual rhetoric to gain support from the Left, people who admire Noam Chomsky, but we've seen these guys in action long enough."
And if anybody was wondering where "Political Correctness" got it's origins, this article explains everything.

Good morning.

Prefiero murir de pie, de murir de rodillas … Emiliano Zapata.

When I read this I always think Marlon Brando. The old movie in which Brando played Zapata ends with him shot to pieces by Mexicans, and dead as a doornail...on his knees.

Good morning.

Is McAllen a college town that exists to pump out quasi educated DemocRATs and to provide marchers for demonstrations?

Mexican relations with Japan began to deteriorate in July 1941 over issues of bribery, raw material smuggling, and espionage, while a Mexican-U.S. accord was finalized on November 19, 1941. Mexico, therefore, became a "reluctant ally." German merchant vessels were interned in Mexican ports and German, Italian, and Japanese consulates were closed during the summer of 1941. The Pearl Harbor attack on December 7 caused Mexico to break diplomatic relations with Japan that same day, and with Germany and Italy four days later. Some Japanese officials were interned in Mexico and later transferred to the United States for repatriation. However, it was the sinking of two Mexican oil tankers (Potrero el Llano by U-564 on May 14, 1942, and the Faja de Oro by U-106 one week later) that resulted in Mexico’s declaring that a "state of war" existed between Mexico and the three Axis powers (see also Gannon [1990]).Link

The year 2000 McAllen population sign reads 140,000. In 1990 the sign read 80,000. My guess is more like 200,000 now and approximately 90% to 95% Hispanic.

It is not a college town. TSU is an extension of Texas State University.

Democrats, yes, big-time. Clinton was here several times during his reign. Hillary was here last year. Al Gore was here in 2000. Mama Heinz was here also.
