Trust is the wrong word to use.

Distrust is the appropriate word. On THIS issue I distrust and have no faith in either party. The person I addressed seemed to be of opinion the approach would differ on THIS issue were the Democrats in power so we should accept the administration's approach. It wouldn't. It might be a bit more open with its stated intent, but the practice would be the same.

On foreign policy, yes, there is a differential in how a Republican administration acts vs a Democrat administration. This isn't a point I've ever disputed.

And angry with every reminder of that fact...like not being able to go to the local Walmart in middle America without having to endure the offensive, incoherent, and too loud babbling in Mexican Spanish from these illegal interlopers. I believe that your position (let's call it the HERNDON POSITION) requires that a wall be built along the Mexican, Canadian, Alaskan, borders. It also requires a similar wall be built around American Samoa, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and any place I may have left out. These walls will result in a lesser trade volumn for USofA industries. Jobs will be created beyond the walls and USofA foreign trade will practically dry-up.

Also, several cities/counties are considering erecting tent-cities to serve as detainment facilities.

The complaint/excuse from many has been that they didn't have jail space to detail. The Sheriff of Maricopa County 'showed them the light'. Now, several other cities/counties are considering tent city detainment facilities as a temporary solution.

This just proves that WE can do something about the problem, when we have LEADERSHIP who are willing to act. If Washington politicians won't lead and if the governors won't lead, local politicians/people WILL.

A theory I have no reason to believe on the basis of your say so.

However, my position is to build a wall. I do thank you for noting my intent isn't only to focus on Mexico. IMO, too many directly focus solely there just because that is where the greatest number enter.

On this you are correct.

The reason being it's a permanent barrier a politician safely re-lected or a new administration cannot easily dismantle. It's not the only thing that must be done, disincentives must be applied from within but it's a concrete barrier that will slow traffic at least.

If our government had earned trust on the matter, I would be more lenient and might even accept "virtual" fences or just more troops on the border or more border guards.

The heart of the matter is that I don't trust them on this. neither do many, that's why insistence on the wall.

Tom Osborne was a "god" only to a handful of morons who consider football important. He was a do-nothing congressman, and the voters wisely rejected him as a gubernatorial candidate.

Tom Osborne is what comes from electing names instead of people.

And that's no lie.
I give credit to The Boston Globe for this coverage.
And can tell you this story has been BURIED here in Big 12 country.
I grew up in Oklahoma (when it was Switzer-Land) and and have relatives
in Missouri.
I checked with my family and NOT A WORD about this in the news.
Which is what you'd expect given Osborne's god-like status in
even other states with schools that were in the Big 8 conference.

The gubernatorial primary should send a message to upChuck that his days are numbered. The crowd that energetically stayed away from Osborne is the same crowd that will send Hagel packing in '08.

Republican Attorney General Jon Bruning, who supported Osborne, said
the congressman's more nuanced position "really wasn't helpful."

In other words, Osburne wasn't artful enough at hiding his true
mission: close down smaller school districts...so there'd be enough
money to give ILLEGALS in-state tuition at universities and colleges.

(N.B.: I'm not sure if the consolidation plan was/wasn't a winner.
But Osborne had his eye on taking money from legal students...
to give it to ILLEGALS.)

But since school districts and hospitals are about the only source of solid middle class jobs in the rural areas then the idea of consolidating them is political suicide. Any politician who even whispers support for the idea is toast.

Heineman vetoed a bill that would have allowed qualified children
of illegal immigrants to pay in-state tuition at the University of
Nebraska. He also vetoed a measure that dissolved the state’s smallest
school districts; those offering elementary school education in
mostly rural areas.
Both vetoes were overridden...

While the date of the over-rides are unclear...and may be blunted thanks
due to time (I think Nebraska has one of those meet-every-other-year
legislatures?)...
but there should be some Nebraska state legislators saying "uh-oh"
when they saw Osborne The G-d defeated like this over those issues.

What do morals have to do with it? Both political parties consider tax dollars nothing more than something to help promote their reelection. What's right or efficient or what's best for the tax payers isn't the issue. Retaining office is.

There are some Kansas school districts being subsidized to the tune of $2500 per student, those are the larger ones. Some of the rural ones are being subsidized to the tune of $12,000 per student.

You are completely missing the point: the fact that these guys are losing in PRIMARIES to OTHER REPUBLICANS who are NOT open borders says that the Dems have no chance with their pro-illegal views.
