On tonight's Hardball, Rep. John Murtha claimed that Marines in Iraq stormed a house and intentionally killed innocent women and children in response to the murder of a fellow Marine. According to Chris Matthews, the Marine Corps is currently investigating this incident. It goes without saying that this is an outrageous allegation to make--especially without any proof--and one would think that Murtha, a former Marine himself, would give the benefit of the doubt to our Marines before making wild accusations. Then again, it's been awhile since Murtha has basked in the glory of the MSM spotlight.

MATTHEWS: Draw us a picture of what happened in Haditha.
MURTHA: Well I'll tell you exactly what happened. One Marine was killed and the Marines just said we're gonna take care...we don't know who the enemy is, the pressure was too much on them, so they went into houses and actually killed civilians and...I...
MATTHEWS: Was this My Lai? When you say cold blood Congressman, a lot of people think you're basically saying you've got some civilians sitting in a room or out in a field and they're executed on purpose...
MURTHA: That's exactly what happened.
MATTHEWS: ...not because any of the Marines are scared or anybody is scared...
MURTHA: ...this was not an action...this was not...first they tried to say it was an IED, there was no IED involved in this. This was troops, they were so stressed out, they went into houses and killed children, women and children. 24 people they killed. Now this is the kind of stress they are under. Listen, I don't excuse it, but I understand what's happening and the responsibility goes right to the top. This is something that should not have happened, that should have been investigated, they've already relieved three commanding officers...but this is the kind of stuff...stress is going to cause these kind of things. That's why I'm so upset about it.
MATTHEWS: Congressman, I just want to read something from the Marine Corps and then you can continue. The Marine Corps told us today that they're not going to comment today because the investigation is still ongoing. So they're investigating...
Because he needs something more than the anti-war blah to get publicity six months out. He wants to give the media their My Lai. There were 2 incidents reported, one was debunked. Hopefully, the military will shed some light on this. Unfortunately, the terrorists live among the civilians who are also their families.

Important point, and one that should be addressed to Murtha's face at every campaign appearance from now to November.
Everyone needs to realize we are at war. Not only is this a threat to Marines, the terrorists can use it as a reason to kill American civilians (i.e., women and children in the US).
In my opinion, every one from here on out, for the simple reason that like Kerry in Viet Nam, Muthra has given our enemies not only hope but the very means by which to strike at our hearts and minds.
Don't forget - this old coot is a member of Code Pinko. Of course he is going to trash the troops. I just wish he had said this BEFORE he spoke at that graduation last weekend where the graduating Marine gave him a verbal smackdown.
Exactly, this has been "out" for a long time, and there have been threads here about this incident.
It was odd too, that there just happened to be a news organization with video cameras to come in right after it happened to take videos of the aftermath, don't you think??

Well more than a few around here are scratching their heads and asking "What the ****?" ever since he started all this. For someone that spent 30 years building a reputation of being a staunch supporter of "our troops", this out-of-the-blue "about face" makes no sense.
Remember, this is the only rep that was smart enough to *not* get caught in ABSCAM. I can't believe he doesn't know that he may well be committing political suicide in this district.
He won't be reporting for duty with Chesty Puller, He'll be hot racking with Lee Harvey Oswald, and Charles Whitman.
One of the many issues to keep in mind in the days to come is the fact that many, if not most, of the "major news outlets" have long indulged in the practice of retaining their former Saddamite "minders" as their current stringers.
Much of what makes its way to the pages and/or airwaves of the MSM is actually provided by those openly allied to the enemy of the US and coalition forces.
There has already been incidences of purposely manufactured anti-US propaganda that has made its way to the front pages of our "news".
