He volunteered to go to Vietnam, and somehow he seems to carry a lot of guilt that he is expressing by allying himself with Kerry, McKinney, Ray McGovern, Dennis Kucinich, etc. I wonder what he did in Vietnam that he carries such guilt for.

Maybe, like Kerry, he did nothing much in 'Nam but create Stolen Valor . . . so maybe he's feeling guilty about that.

Puts him one notch above Kerry I suppose . . .

"Do you suppose somebody is holding something over his head?"

Honestly, I don't know *what*'s going on. All I can tell you is that his actions of the last year or so are completely out-of-character. For 30 years, D or not, he was a staunch supporter of the troops and kept a low profile. National, schmashimal, he's elected from *this* area and you can't tell me that, after 32 years, he didn't *know* that bad-mouthing our "troops" won't fly here.

I'm a blue-star mom of 2, military sister and aunt. Wanna guess who I'm voting for? I've got 7 or 8 votes lined up for Irey already and that's just "family".

Murtha should know better not to make such allegations which would be seized upon Americas enemies . Of course this traitorous POS doesn't give a damn.. its all about his party Dems and not about America. Pennsylvania should be ashmed of electing this traitor Murtha to congress.

Murtha's brother is a lobbyist for some defense industries and has steered defense contracts their way...like over $20 million in just one year (2004). Murtha is the ranking democrat on the Defense appropriations subcommittee. He used to be the Chair of it.

The Hill reported in October that John Murtha is the top House recipient of campaign contributions from the defense industry for the past three years. As of the October 31, 2005 Federal Election Commission report, Murtha had received over $200,000 from defense firms in the 2006 election cycle, surpassing the next highest recipient by over $60,000. You can read more on this @ Murtha CYA

It could be the skeletons in his closet chasing him if you read my post #85 or he could just be plain ol demented.

Jean Schmidt's statement on the floor that was so villified gains more and more truth every day. Murtha is a nut.

This is the "scandal" needed by the MSM to mute the news of the Iraqi Government forming. It fits their "template" perfectly.

He better be absolutely sure before he starts spouting Mooselip inciting statements like this. If not he should be tried for Treason. If they have a shortage of volunteers for the Firing Squad I will pay good money to be in that line.

Pray for W and Our Marines

From the Spectator article:

An ethically suspect member of Congress, with close, personal connections to lobbyists whose clients are benefited by his committee? What more could the Washington Post need to begin sniffing around? And now that John Murtha's a nationally prominent politician, he should naturally attract closer scrutiny.

Perhaps that national prominence is steering the major press away. When Cybercast News Service asked Murtha about his Abscam past, he answered, "Questions about my record are clearly an attempt to distract attention from the real issue, which is that our brave men and women in uniform are dying and being injured every day in the middle of a civil war that can be resolved only by the Iraqis themselves." Rep. Murtha's office said he was giving interviews all day yesterday and would be unavailable for comment.

John Murtha is apparently using a controversy he created in November to shield himself from his ethical past. His comments about the war in Iraq make for convenient cover in an increasingly critical ethical atmosphere. The major media's silence is deafening.

"According to Chris Matthews, the Marine Corps is currently investigating this incident."

The allegations were made about a month ago, I believe. Seems pretty outlandish for Murtha to simply take the allegations on face, though, given that there is an investigation going on.

If Murtha is wrong he should be impeached.

He poisoned the pool by claiming that these acts were committed and the soldiers should be punished.

Rolling up the shirt sleeves. We have some work to do:

12th congressional district primary results

Let's put our shoulders to the wheel, FReepers. Taking down traitor Murtha should be a priority one mission. How many lives has he cost with his lies and sedition? How long will you allow the stench of his self-serving corruption to poison the air over Shanksville, where Flight 93 rests?

What are our heros really worth to you?

Since you're on the ground there, do you think it's possible that he's suffering from old age related dementia? It's such a switch from his previous position that it seems to me it's either that or influence/blackmail of some kind. Otherwise I can't see a Marine accusing other Marines of such a hideous crime without any real proof.

Anything would be preferable to his just being an anti-American traitor.

"Murtha is certainly endearing himself to the members of the military, isn't he?"

He is only concerned about his electorate.

He is skating close enough to the edge of discovery of his family ties with defense contractors now with his new-found notoriety that it should only be a matter of time for this crapola masquerading as a member of Congress to go down. But alas, our so-called DOJ is too busy trying to get Rove while Congress is wetting it's panties over a limousine service.
