President Bush is predicting victory for Republicans in November congressional elections based on a record of promoting freedom and opportunity at home and abroad. Mr. Bush addressed Republican Party organizers amid opinion surveys showing declining approval ratings for his presidency and the Republican-led Congress.
President Bush said Republicans are a party of optimism, and that under Republican leadership freedom is expanding across the globe, including in Iraq. "Free countries will lay the foundation of peace for our children and grandchildren. The enemy cannot defeat us in Iraq, and they cannot defeat us anywhere else in the world. The only way we can be defeated is if we lose our nerve, and the Republican Party will not lose its nerve," he said.
Mr. Bush promised to vigorously continue to war on terror, to keep taxes low, and deal with pressing immigration matters.
Republican Party unity is also being challenged. Opposition from Democrats to much of Mr. Bush's agenda is to be expected. But now some of the president's most conservative Republican allies on Capitol Hill are in open revolt over the administration's immigration reform plan. While they applaud the president's desire to boost border security, some strongly object to Mr. Bush's proposal to establish a guest worker program and provide a path to citizenship for millions of illegal aliens.

Note the encouraging little tid-bit in the last paragraph of the article:
"If current polling trends look bleak for Republicans, they also provide warning signs for Democrats. A recent survey showed 52-percent of Americans say Democrats have failed to provide contrasting alternatives to Republican initiatives."
We can still WIN in November, let's not hand victory to the Democrats.
BUMP!
RESULTS MATTER. The result of YOUR proposed action is to hand over control of Congress and control of the US to the Democrats.

The only thing I'll predict for sure is that Paul Wellstone will not be elected again.....
Wow! What a well timed and powerfully profound reply, Old_Mil!!!
We need to remember; "United we stand" and if we need to unite against the REAL enemy: the DEMOCRATS.
Too bad our leaders want to add 50 plus million democrats to the electorate,,,
IMHO.. Bush needs some new speech writers and he needs to get out there more. Tony Snow will go a long way to make sure the press does not get left off the hook with the constant lies.
I see, here comes the cheering section for a Dem Victory.
For shame!
You are so correct.
Your's is the #1 post of the day in my book.
Good political rhetoric, but hey. The REAL enemies of America are those who want to kill us, destroy our way of life, destroy freedom. Most of those are not American Democrats (though certainly some are).
I would say instead that we need to unite against the enemies of America, the enemies of freedom, the enemies of principle. While the Dems have a lot of each of those, they don't have a monopoly.
One reason the Republican party is in trouble is that conservative principles are being ignored by a large and increasing percentage of those who call themselves Republicans. A liberal RINO is just as much a threat to America as a liberal Democrat.
The Dems offer America nothing. But Republicans can still lose if they think in purely political terms. The Dems are merely a political party of opponents. Don't confuse politics with principles. The enemies of America are found around the world, and at home in BOTH parties.
VOTE YOUR PRINCIPLES.
YES!! (See my post #16, should have included you, sorry...)
Interesting you say that. After the Russian Afghan war, the CIA told the Majhadeen that they would help them set a Government up. They started and a couple tribal chief stood up and the Taliban stood up and a civil war began. The CIA cut and run because they didn't want blood on their hands. Well, we all know that the Taliban won and we had to go bust up terrorist camps in Afghanistan. If we cut and run in Iraq, we better be prepared to go back again one day. God bless out Troops
It has to be some kind of mental block. There's no other reason I can think of that makes sense.
