WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Dozens of critics of proposed immigration reform measures waved American flags at a rally near the Capitol as senators debated legislation on the contentious issue Wednesday. ............................................. A CNN reporter estimated that 300 people participated in the rally, instead of the thousands that organizers hoped for. ....................................................

Turnout for the three-hour rally was lower than expected, organizers said, because not everyone received word that the protest had been moved from Friday to Wednesday because of the Senate session.

Rain was also a factor. A march to the Capitol was canceled because of the bad weather.

The Senate on Wednesday kept alive a proposal that would allow some of the roughly 11 million illegal immigrants in the United States to work their way toward legal status and eventual citizenship. Conservatives had tried to kill the provision.

CNN's Juan Carlos Lopez and Eric Fiegel seem very disapointed, blamed everything except Bush for the measly turnout.

Were these illegal immigrants or Bush-bashing Republicans?

>>>.Were these illegal immigrants or Bush-bashing Republicans?<<<

Neither, I would guess. The Mexicans, both legal and illegal, realized that they are being used, and are furious about it. They are really griping about the loudmouths amongst their own people who sold them out.

Bush-bashing Republicans are marching on the Internet. No need to get out in the streets to undermine the POTUS. A keyboard will do.

That leaves the Loonie Leftie Commie Brigades. The Code Pinks and the Sheenanites and the PLO HOMO Awareness Coalition and the PETA "One Babe in the Bunch" Tiger Lady, and Berkley Nudists for Hatred of America, and all the other splinter groups. So, right there, you've got your 300 virulent pustules of humanity.

And of course, this makes the MSM front pages.

Ordinary Americans do not have the money or the time to go to rallies. But we vote and we talk and we call politicians. If necessary we will fight.
