An apology for "getting too far out in front of the news cycle"? How's that again?

This means that the author feels that Rove wasn't indicted only because the story put such visibility and heat on Fitzgerald that he had to back down for now. The author is implying that, if not for this story Rove would have been indicted.

Oh, now I'm a troll because I don't like the fact that Bush's poor PR campaign led to a 20 point drop in his approval.

No, I don't think you're a troll, I just think you don't get it...

What do you think Bush should do to counter the negative media spin? Do you remember when David "Barbi-Doll" Gregory asked Bush to apologize to the American people, do you think he should have?

There are things going on in this world that concerns the SAFETY of every American in this land and Bush won't compromise that just because you want him to namby-pamby, and prove himself worthy to the DBM.

We are in a War, Bush doesn't have time to worry about whether he's popular or not.

A lot of image problems this whitehouse has were caused by the lack of response to some pretty stupid accusations.

But why justify the "Stupid" accusations with a response and get yourself into some dumbass namby-pamby agrument? Are there things that Bush could do differently, sure, but I trust his judgement.

I will say he's not at all right about the boarder issue, but the Repubs better get united on this or we're gonna see DBM/dems come back into power very soon. Not because they have anything to offer, they don't, but the American people are fickle when it comes to voting, and DBM/dems have got the dead vote in their pockets!!

Leopold promised to reveal his sources if the indictment did not happen within the "24 business hours" timeframe. Apparently, Truthout (or is it Truthnot?), is giving him a pass on this. If the blogger had any integrity (ah, but he is a dem, so he doesn't) he would ban Leopold from ever posting at his site. Instead, Ash continues to make excuses and cover for his liar friend. Oh well, it is what we expect from the left.

The still-MIA Pitt outed the source as Joe Wilson in a 3 am drunken rant (which I think has been deleted).

"You can apologize all you want after that, the damage has been done."

Known as 'The Drill'.

I was making a sarcastic remark about Will Rivers Pitt, the editor who approved the story, and who has possibly spent this week trying to get himself out of a bottle; one of his favorite pastimes as I understand it.

OTOH, maybe he hasn't been trying all that hard.

It sounds like TruthOut is digging its heels in this Hoaxmas story and is stubbornly refusing to concede that it is FALSE.

Yep, and they're getting help from some of their friends as well.

No, I don't want the President to go softer, I want him to go tougher. I want a war room that has seasoned political operatives that can go out and counter every charge. If they had done that with Lying Joe, they would not be in the mess they are now.

Your link keeps returning an Internal Server Error. So now it's a 40 hour or so meeting, instead of 15? Sounds like OutofTruth is going for the "lock 1000 monkeys in a room with typewriters" approach to "journalism" - throw out so many versions or what happened that something has to be right by the law of averages, and count on their friends in the leftist media to cover for all of the "rough drafts."

I think they shutdown that page. I went to the TruthOut page and then tried to click to it from there but NO GO. I was able to get in a little while ago but now nothing. Perhaps they have FINALLY come to the realization that Hoaxmas won't fly and are going to FINALLY admit the story is FALSE. However, it is strange that I can get to TruthOut but when I click on the Discussion from there...NOTHING.

I just found out this new TruthOut excuse was featured on Drudge so they are probably overloaded.

DU bans links to the Wayne Madsen report becuase it doesn't meet their journalistic standards.

How low to you have to sink for that?

The whole story is a big pile of cat stools.

The still-MIA Pitt outed the source as Joe Wilson in a 3 am drunken rant (which I think has been deleted).

The rant was deleted (apparently by Pitt himself) -- however, somebody had already copied it, with commentary, to Daily Kos.

That must be particularly embarassing to Skinner: as leftist sites go, Daily Kos already is everything he wishes DU could someday be.

If they had done that with Lying Joe, they would not be in the mess they are now.

Now stop and think. Who is really in a mess? My point is I believe there are things happening behind the sceens which are more important than you can imagine, it may not be in the best thing for the President to come out swing at this point. So just hold on and watch what happens...

The popularity numbers may be down from mostly a deceptive and snide press, but Bush is not out, nor are the Repubs at this point.

It appears that TruthOut and AirAmerica (possibly Franken in particular) colluded to get Leopold's Rove indictment story released. Randi Rhodes read the report as breaking news at about 7 PM (Eastern), Friday, May 12, over her AM and XM drivetime outlets. I heard the AM version while mobile. Strangely, nothing further was mentioned about an indictment on Randi's show that evening. There were no comments whatsoever. The story didn't gain legs until sometime Saturday, May 13, even though people at NewsHounds and TalkLeft posted right away on May 12 about Randi's announcement.
